The Ocean

The ocean is the endless water the covers the void, the six lands and the free lands are the only breakup of ocean ever observed. The water spans into the distance forever and any who have ventured beyond have failed to return. Life is abundant in the ocean with life varying from the smallest living sand, to monsters able to swallow a galley whole. Land raised from the ocean floor create the six lands and free lands, as well as the stand which makes up a large portion of the sea. The stand is ground below the water that is also referred to as the ocean floor, it is higher than the black water making stand waters safe for divers and many sea critter to wander. Some islands are unconnected from the sea floor and float using skystone formed in their center much like the sky islands of Ern. Unlike the sky islands, floating islands regularly sink back into the ocean and reemerge after some time, larger ones tend to take longer to submerge with some taking hundreds of years before they do. Some floating island don't surface above the water, some when sinking fall just below the water, and some sink below the black water sometimes never to be seen again.   The ocean is deep, too deep, and in the deep resides the black water which let no light of the sun pass. Black water is the ocean below the ocean and in it is a crushing pressure with beasts who live without sight, immune to the effects of black water. The water itself is the exact same as sea water, but more dense and with major effects when making contact with a living beings body. The water has no reasoning for being different as many researchers has come to conclusion that its make up is the exact same as ordinary salt water.
