Sorgina

History

The sorgina quickly established themselves as the most powerful species due to their magic. They were the ones that started the world wide calendar and started recording history in an organized way.

Around the year 150, the sorgina had accomplished quiet a lot with their magic and started experimenting more with it. During that, a few sorgina died because they used up all their Life Energy. A sort of fear of magic developed and overall development slightly halted. Experiments were made about how far one could go with magic and the tick system was developed.

At the same time, another group of people startet questioning where their magic powers came from at all and the Faith of the Eight was developed into its early stages into a world wide organized religion.

As the dáotara society grew and developed, the sorgina got involved into more and more conflicts with them over territory that was previously owned by sorgina.

Around the year 2000, the sorgina got into contact with the Human World. They wanted to exchange knowledge and culture. Part of those contacts were the twin cities of Alexandria and Néahdôn, both of which held a library with the most important information in it. Around 2070, there was an internal conflict among the sorgina whether or not the humans should be given access to magic. To stop the distribution of magic from happening, the part of the sorgina society that was against it, burned down the library in Alexandria and framed the humans for it to cause the decision to be made to cut all ties with the humans, any portals that were still active at that point in time were being deactivated. Though, there are still sorgina groups today that think humans should get access to magic.

Powers

The Sorgina can use magic with their Life Energy. Their Life Energy is acting like a battery: when someone uses their magic, some Life Energy is used up for it. This can be seen as well, because magic always gives off a silver glow. Life Energy can also be replenished by resting or sleeping. Using too much Life Energy at once can lead to physical harm to your body or even death. Each person has around 100 ticks of Life Energy to use.

Sorgina classified into different Magic Classes, that each focus on their own kind of spells. One sorgina can perform spells from multiple classes, but usually they only specialize in one class.

Culture

The sorgina society is structured by how advanced someone is in their magic class and how devoted someone is to the Faith of the Eight. There are different ranks that every sorgina gets sorted into. Everyone gets evaluated on their best magic class. One cannot rise up in the ranks if they are not religiously devoted.

It is not all about magic powers, they want to see religious devotion and unquestioned loyalty. You can be as talented as you want, if that is not up your alley, you will not make a career.

• Apprentice (a young sorgina, in training for basic control over their magic)
• Graduate (someone who has passed the basic exam in Náofe and is now considered a full fledged member of society)
• Initiate (lowest religious rank, someone who has continued their studies after the basic exam)
• Adept (the first rank that is allowed to teach younger sorgina)
• Master (lead communities)
• Sage (live and study with the Arch Masters in the main temple in Náofe)
• Arch Master (highest possible rank, only one of every magic class exist, they make up the Holy Congregation)

The eight Arch Masters are the leaders of the global sorgina population. The leaders of each individual sorgina country answer to them.
