Kobolds
Believed to be related to the Dragons, Kobolds are pushed to the outskirts of Civilization. These accusations are fueled by the prevalence of Sorcery among them. Between this and their small size Kobold communities are insular accepting few outsiders. Some Kobolds lean into this worshiping Dragons for their protection, while others reject it outright.
Cultures
Slavery
Valued for their skill and dedication to work, there are societies that seek to exploit Kobolds for those aspects. Not just Dragons, whose dominion over the Kobold borders on slavery, but other Ancestries. To maintain their mines, Kobolds will make unbalanced treaties that drive them to exhaustion for others. On top of that, Kobolds are actively hunted by slavers taking advantage of their separation from other societies, vague laws, and perceived draconic connections.
Kobold tribes tend to be skill based hierarchies. The most efficient and skillful worker tends also to lead. While Sorcerers will have a leg up in this, they are not the most common leaders.
Draconic Dominions
Attaching themselves to Dragons for protection, Kobold tribes will mine and craft on behalf of their Dragon overlord. The personality and demeanor of the Dragon heavily influences the personality of the Kobolds under their control.
Independent Mines
Kobolds value the work, be it mining or crafting. They organize their society around their work ethic. Always at risk of invasions, Mines are a maze of traps to keep invaders out. Being forced from their mines by others who want to take over the resources is a common occurrence.
Settlements
Kobolds spend most of their time underground supported by a small surface settlement that provided things like wax and food. In the limited instances that they trade with other cultures, they trade crafted goods.
Religion
Stonedowsers
The closest Kobolds have to a priesthood, the Stonedowsers lead their people to valuable ore and gems.
Dragons and Saints can be the center of Kobold worship and Kobolds will make Pacts, but Sorcery holds more power over Kobold societies. While the Kobolds can revere a Dragon or Saint, they don't do so with an expectation of an afterlife. They believe they are a function of the world and will return to the ground upon death the guide their descendants to new resources.
