Gnomes

Originally from The Undying Lands, Gnomes found their way into the Dancing Spheres. Distributed seemingly randomly across the Spheres, Gnomes are inveterate seekers of knowledge. While many focus on Arcane knowledge, that is not their sole defining interest. In fact, as a Gnome achieves mastery over a subject a new one will catch their interest causing them to start all over in their research. As such they seem to be little interested in immediate affairs, preferring to focus on their research. But they are not purely interested in the knowledge but its applications. What good it knowing how the Elemental Planes intersect if you can't find a way to channel power from them?

Cultures

Gnomes have a naturally academic culture, focused on investigation and the debate of ideas. The gravitate towards academic pursuits and integrate themselves into the academic or artisanal communities of other cultures.

Settlements

While Gnomes are generally found in the settlements of other Ancestries, they do create Fortress Laboratories that contain and support a population of Gnomes all researching the same things. In such cases they typically form meritocracies where the most knowledgeable on the subject lead. Because of the dangers of the larger world that surrounds the Fortress Laboratories, they are often found in out of the way places that are easy to defend.

Religion

Gnomes rarely follow the Gods or Spirits of the dominant culture they are in, though they tend to latch onto Saints regardless of culture. As these remarkable individuals raised to divinity often embody an ideal the Gnome values.
