Cultures

Everburning Strongholder

The Foreclaimers of the Strongholds on the Everburning Eye live in regimented societies that ostensibly are syndicalist representative democracies, but hereditary authorities have grown over the centuries. On top of that the Machine Priests hold the survival of strongholds in their hands, granting them massive authority in the strongholds.

Kaiju Riders

The Forclaimers who inhabit the Kaiju of the Everburning Eye exist in small tribes topping out at a few thousand. Scavenging and trade are core to the societies as they are necessary to maintain life on the Kaiju. Without control of where the Kaiju travels, they are unwilling nomads and have to regularly adapt to new situations. Dependent on the health and survival of the Kaiju, settlements are poised to evacuate when their Kaiju encounters another one and inevitably fights. While generally welcoming of visitors and traders, Rider societies are incredibly precisely balanced to not overexpend resources.

Voidborn

The Foreclaimers of the Veil of the Sun are born touched by the Void. They tend to have a wanderlust that they cannot fully explain. The population of Settlements tend to be transitory, more itinerant then settled. The smallest unit of society is the Crew. Voidships hold one or more Crews depending on their size. Crews generally are democratically or hereditarilly led by an individual that represents their Crew in the politics of the Settlement, be it a fixed Outpost or a Voidship.

Settlements

All Foreclaimer settlements cluster around the remnants of Ancient technology and the Old Wizardry. With these they maintain their societies in incredibly harsh environments. The main focus of the settlement is the maintaining the necessary protections and supporting their population. It is rare for settlements to be larger than tens of thousands individuals, most are in the low thousands.

Religion

Athiesm is consistent across all Foreclaimer societies. With their knowledge that the Old Gods and First Dragons are gone they don't seek out the divine. Because of this they are generally ignored by the Saints, and Gods so the Strongholders don't know to seek them out. However, there is rising desperate superstitions that have started to attract the attention of the Spirits and Pacts are increasing. They are aware of the Maelstrom and all of their philosophies treat the current life as the only form of existence.
