The Eclipse Brothers

One bedtime story that is told to restless children is that of the Eclipse Knight and his brother.   The tale speaks of a lonely wandering knight, trekking through the wilderness of the Rhakhis Peaks in search of the den of the beast who destroyed his home - slaying his wife and children.   The Knight has three encounters along his journey: a ghoul disguised as a young girl calling for help from the woods, a strange hooded figure clothed in white who offered him sage advice, and a ferocious minotaur that ambushed the Knight on the road.   On the night of a solar eclipse, he reached the den of his quarry - a small moss-covered cave - and found no beast there, but in fact another knight dressed all in black, standing over the a slain, fair-haired maiden. The two knights faced eachother in vicious battle over the body of the woman, and as the Eclipse Knight narrowly won the duel by subduing his foe and knocking off his helmet, he found it to be none other than his brother. He had been tricked by a witch, who turned the woman into a monster until her last breath was drawn.   The knights went their separate ways and were reunited years later - battle hardened and weary - at a huge battle in front of the Maw. The brothers fought side-by-side in arms, where they were both slain reclaiming the ancient doors in the name of their Emperor. The hooded straner in white was said to have been present in the aftermath of this battle.   Some believe the knight in black bears resemblance to one Sir Rodney Farfallow - a famous knight from the years following Avlar's conquest.
