The Creation
This details the origin story of Gētīg and the slumber of Chaos
Summary
Chaos awoke in the void, aware of the maddening stillness and deafening silence. Their sleep had been the progenator of the void, and through waking up his conciousness became the restless cosmos. Chaos would be the seed that the fruit of Getig would soon sprout.
Not long after the infinite nap in the void did Chaos spawn new forms of creation. The very action of waking up split chaos into six primary forces.
The first was the Aspect of Dusk, Yazata Tara, who became the vastness of space, the night sky, divine feminine, and unconciousness.
The second was the Aspect of Dawn, Yazata Anu, who became the stars that dot the night sky, the space between them, the flow of time, divine masculine, and conciousness (you need conciousness to experience the linear passage of time).
The third aspect was of the Aspect of Earth, Yazata Armaiti, that became the mountains and isles of Gētīg, the fertile soils of the valleys, and the elemental force of Earth.
The fourth was the Aspect of Sea, Yazata Mana, that became the the seas between the isles, the rivers and streams in the mountains, and the elemental force of Water.
The fifth aspect was the Aspect of Sky, Yazata Borea, which became the skies of Gētīg, the whispy clouds that buffered the heavens above to Gatha below, and the elemental force of Air.
Lastly, the sixth aspect was the Aspect of Day, Yazata Nanto, which became the Sun that sits on the throne of the sky, the lights that decorated the canvas of Yasna, and the elemental force of Fire.
The Spenta were born of the dance between the Tara and Anu. This became known as the Dance of Dusk and Dawn. It is said that the dance involved seven forms, and each form created the seven Spentas, which are collectively the Amesha Spenta. This became night and day, as well as the days of the weeks. The completed dance became a year. The Amesha Spenta would go on to live in Falias, the City of the Gods which lies within its own, unreachable realm.
Spread
On Maniachaeia
The Creation Myth has been spread far and wide on Maniachaeia. The Church of Ahura Mazda believe the creation myth to just be a legend, and that Creation was actually bestowed by Ahura Mazda themselves. Knowledge of the Yazatas was lost on most, and invoking the Yazatas to cast magic is rather frowned upon and seen as rude.
On Bréaga
The Creation Myth is well known on Bréaga thanks to Old Fomorian relics. They also are more open practioners of Yazatas.
Variations & Mutation
Church of Ahura Mazda
The Church of Spenta Mainyu belives that only Ahurza Mazda is the one true god, and that the Amesha Spenta are the aspects of Ahura Mazda. They also believe the dance of Dusk and Dawn was actually Ahura Mazdas dance to create Falias and Gētīg. The ultimate goal is to achieve unification with Spenta Mainyu, the most holy Amesha Spenta, and join Ahura Mazda in Falias.
Church of Angra Mainyu
The Church of Angra Mainyu believe something similar, the major division here is that a prophet by the name of Angra Ahriman was believed to be an incarnation of Ahura Mazda. Angra came to the world in 3400 BBE to lead humanity into Falias. However, the church of Ahura Mazda proclaimed Angra to be a false prophet of Ahura Mazda, and his goal a suicide mission. Angra was subsequently proclaimed a heretic and was burned at the stake. Before his execution, Angra proclaimed that they would return in the future to unify the peoples of this world and lead them to a new land, and the ones that remained believers, who also followed the path of Amesha Spenta, would be given seats in Falias.
Church of the Seven Dancers
This church is mostly believed by the Elven Tribes. They believe the Amesha Spenta are their own gods, and worship them equally. While this seems to conflic with the Church of Ahura Mazda, these two religions resemble eachother so closely on the surface that they easily intermingle. A major difference here is that Elves intimately know the Yazatas, and each tribe worships the elemental Yazatas as their own god. Each tribe eventally came to take closer forms to their Yazatas.
Fomorian Pagan Gods
The High Fomorians had a subset of gods they worshipped that were supposedly born before the Dance of Dusk and Dawn. When the High Fomorians were split, the knowledge of these gods went with them. Today, the New Fomorians work with the old gods, but keep the religion closed off to outsiders as both Church of Ahura Mazda and the Church of Angra Mainyu consider these old gods to be pagan gods. Today, New Fomorians guard their old gods with such secrecy because very little is known about them, and they dont want New Fomorian pagan magick to be bastardized by Humans and Elves. The information they do know comes from old relics from before the split. Today Fomorian magick is exclusively drawn from the pagan gods.
High Fomorian Gods
The gods of the High-Fomors came with deep knowledge of all six Yazatas, as well as an entire pantheon of gods that came before the Dance of Dusk and Dawn.
