Folklore

in Cumae: The Orbis

These short tales, borrowed heavily from actual folklore of Eastern Europe and Eurasia and credited as such where possible, are the foundational knowledge of most of the sentient inhabitants of the Orbis, and form a shared narrative framing the lives of people of all ages and social status. If you're creating a character or NPC on the Orbis, it's a safe bet that he or she at least knows the folklore specific to their region and species, and many of the other tales have their localized versions as well. Where the tale is historical, or partially so, this is indicated. Several other long form myths/folklore are also posted, but this section is specifically intended to showcase quick vignettes in a few sentences describing what the stories are, and are not necessarily the actual stories word for word.
