Xeos
Xeos, the God of the Sky, is a being whose domain stretches across the heavens themselves. He resides in the highest skies, far above the reach of mortals and even the winds. Despite his connection to the sun and the perpetual warmth of his realm, Xeos possesses an odd pallor. It’s an anomaly, one might think, for a being so close to the source of light and heat. You would expect him to be darker, his skin rich with the sun’s touch. But, as is the nature of gods, appearances are often deceiving, and we cannot simply cut open a god to find out what makes them tick. We can only observe the effects of their power, their presence. Xeos is pale, and it remains a mystery.
One of Xeos's requests to Terras, the God of Earth and Life, was to create something unique—a creature that could endure the extreme pressures of the sky and live for nearly eternity. This creature, a bird unlike any other, was christened “Rock” by Xeos. While it isn’t particularly large, its perfection lies in its design—strong enough to endure the harshest heights and pressures, and resilient enough to never succumb to deformity, even through generations of inbreeding. Terras, in his infinite wisdom, created this bird, and it became a symbol of Xeos's will over the sky. Xeos has ten of them—five males, five females—and they roam freely in his realm, breeding now and then, creating beautiful offspring that fly among the clouds, elegant and eternal.
Xeos's pale blush, when observed, is the result of the coldness of his domain—an eternal chill that creeps into him despite his proximity to the sun. This cold does not affect his divine form as it might with mortals. We, the gods, can feel the changes in the environment, but we are not bound by them. However, Xeos's redness, that faint flush, is a mark of his struggle with the cold—a paradox, given his domain in the sky.
As the god of weather, Xeos is not content to simply observe the sky; he actively shapes it, molding the winds and clouds to maintain balance. At times, this involves the creation of storms, fierce tempests that can be deadly, striking down mortal life to maintain harmony in the natural world. While these storms may seem catastrophic, they are part of his role—bringing balance and order to the ever-shifting sky. A storm, after all, is not only destruction but also renewal. The death it brings is necessary for the life that will follow.
Xeos is a god of paradoxes—pale despite the sun, a creator of life yet a harbinger of storms. He remains aloof in the high skies, watching over his domain with the cold, calculating distance that only a god of weather can hold. His creations, his birds, his storms—all are part of his careful balance, a testament to the complexities of the world he shapes from above.
