The Greedqueen, She who Covets

Minor Goddess of Greed, Trickery, Wealth, and Personal Gain

Yeah, sure, I mean...can't exactly deny that the only reason I got into the faith was because I got tricked into making The Oath. I think most of us have been there, honestly.   Funny story, actually - most guys just get tricked into swearin' up while they're drunk or desperate or whatever. My, ahaha...the guy who tricked me...fuck, it makes me laugh jus' thinkin' 'bout it...   That motherfucker got me to make the oath by asking me to translate "An old scroll" from some obscure tribal dialect I had studied in my youth into common for him. This sly motherfucker translated the Greedqueen's oath into a dead language spoken by a hundred people four thousand years ago just to get me to recite it and bind myself to the faith - just to get one over on one of the three guys on the whole damn planet who can speak it! Guy was the definition of an overachiever...fuck, I miss him sometimes.   Fuckin' hilarious, honestly...I still can't really even be mad about it.   Anyway...don't get me wrong, I could have gotten out a long time ago. Wouldn't be hard. But I have my reasons for stayin' in.   Some guys stay 'cause they like being abused. Some guys stay 'cause they're just damn greedy. Some guys stay 'cause they're natural born scum, and like attracts like.   Guys like me stay cause they find purpose here. Say whatever you want, but it's nice to feel wanted - to have structure and meaning in your life, even if its all externalized - hell, I had just about given up on ever finding a use for my linguistic talents until I got tricked into joining.   Sure, she's not like most gods - and sure, it feels less like I'm in an organized religion and more like I'm participating in a glorified pyramid scheme. But she's honest, at least - can't say that about most Gods these days. Stupid? Maybe. But hey, it works for me.
— Unnamed Follower of the Greedqueen
Titles: The Queen of Thieves, She who Covets, The Five-Handed Empress, Our Golden Lady, The Unwanted God, The Godrobber, The Sparkthief, The Twoknife Terror, Lady of the Unloved, The girl with no name   Favored Weapon: Estoc   Alignment: Chaotic Neutral   Church Moniker: Church of the Greedqueen   Obedience: Spend an hour offering me your most valued possessions and items at an altar dedicated to my glory. Leave a gold piece on the altar as you offer me your belongings, and after an hour is up, leave the gold, altar, and items where they lay for me to collect. The items will be returned to you on loan afterwards.   Obedience Effect: By spending a full-round action studying any creature, item, or object within your line of sight, you are instantly made aware of its market value in Gold Pieces relative to your local area and factoring in local shortages, surpluses, etc. As a standard action while in contact with item or object(Or by succeeding a melee touch attack if the item or object is attended), you can channel the power of the Greedqueen into the item to instantly transmute it into an equal amount of Gold Coins equal to half the value given above(Around Crafting Price) - certain items, at GM discretion, may produce more Gold closer to the item's market value if the Greedqueen covets the item strongly enough. You gain the Signature Skill(Appraise) feat as a bonus feat as if your HD were 10 higher than normal. If you do not use this ability at least once each day(or use it to generate a suitable amount of wealth), it may begin to forcibly transmute items you touch until the Greedqueen is satisfied. Finally, you gain Coin Shot as an at-will Spell-Like ability(Using your Hit Die as the spell's Caster Level) by channeling the jealousy of the Greedqueen into the held coins.

Artifacts

Despite the relatively small size of her own faith, the Greedqueen is known to possess a disgustingly large amount of artifacts - yet, as many would expect, she does not dole them out to her followers or allow them to leave her enormous extraplanar vaults for virtually any reason - at least, not publicly. Ultimately, most of the artifacts are not even hers by origin - most of which are believed to have been tributed to her by ancient followers seeking to earn favor.   For this reason, the Greedqueen is looked on with trepidation by her fellow divinities - who often view the insane amount of artifacts she possesses(Some of which include the former divine relics of Major Deities tributed to her by their former followers) as significant and dangerous enough to threaten them should they decide to provoke her.   Though perhaps not strictly an artifact in the traditional sense, the oath spoken aloud by the faithful to signal their initiation into the Greedqueen's faith is, in itself, a powerful magical relic known only as The Oath that, if spoken aloud, signed, or otherwise 'acknowledged' for any reason, instantly forces the creature into a binding contract similar to a Magical Geas to obey the tenets of the Greedqueen's faith until such a time as they find two other creatures to take their place in the faith. Though subtle, the binding of the Oath is enormously powerful - and is not easily broken by most any mortal magics.

Holy Books & Codes

All in all, though information on her faith remains scarce, the Greedqueen's faith is known to possess two books broadly classified as "Holy Books" - the first and most widespread of which is a small booklet titled The Beginner's Guide to Treasure Life which, by and large, is easily mistaken for a normal book by most of the common populace. This booklet, written and spread long ago by especially devout followers of her faith, is easily mistaken for a guide written to help adventurers or those with 'money' or 'treasures' use such things responsibly, or for those without them to acquire them safely, easily, and reliably. The exact contents of this book are unknown, but believed to be mildly morphic or somehow magical in nature, as the book's contents seem designed to invariably lead the reader down paths that invariably lead to the faith of the Greedqueen - convincing readers to make donations and tributes to the Goddess, to relinquish all of one's worldly possessions to her, and the like. How exactly the book does this is unknown, but its increasingly widespread nature has made it alarmingly dangerous and increasingly popular across much of the planet of Ea - as more and more fall to the influence of the Greedqueen, more and more countries begin to feel the economic loss as the Greedqueen takes control of more and more of the land's wealth. For this reason, the book has begun to be banned in many realms across Corexus, Inara, and beyond for its dangerous and somewhat infections nature - if only to prevent the tribute-obsessed Goddess it represents from getting more of the land's wealth.   Rumors abound of a second, more profound 'holy book' of the faithful known as The Aurum Grimoire: The Complete Guide to the Vaults of Greed - a book that supposedly contains a complete list of the Greedqueen's current assets, their current holders, and a complete list of all the world's valuables believed once lost from her vaults; However, this book is believed to exist in the hands of the Greedqueen's chosen mortal envoy and does not leave their hands, for its power is said to be enough to allow for the holder to infiltrate nearly any place or realm containing an item listed within its pages.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Tenets of Faith

I shall never betray her. No matter my means of entry, I shall never betray my oaths to my Queen until I find two more to take my place in her service.

I shall fill her vaults. I shall dedicate my life to emptying the pockets of the world and its people to reclaim her treasures - as her vaults swell, so too shall my fortunes.

I shall not fight fair. Though the journey to reclaim her treasures shall be long and arduous, I shall spare no means, shun no act, nor take the longer road on my path to victory.

I shall never waste her gifts. I shall never waste or misuse her treasures or allow another to do the same, nor shall I allow any of them to come to undue harm before she can fully reap its benefits.

I shall make her my world. I shall not place anything or anyone above her - I shall find meaning, value, and validation solely from her unless the pursuit of them would serve her interests or her goals.

I shall deliver her the world. I shall work to expand her influence and affluence in equal measure, and I shall never keep nor covet property, possessions, or treasures of my own. All I have and am shall be hers, first and foremost.

History

A relationship mostly shrouded in myths, rumors, and half-truths, little is known of the true relationship between Tiamat and The Greedqueen....though she did not appear until some time after Tiamat's betrayal and subsequent vanishing, many of The Greenqueen's followers tell a myriad of tales regarding her origins.   Some tell she stole Tiamat's divinity as she was betrayed, and thus ascended to godhood and stole Tiamat's followers...others still say she is simply a shard of The Chromatic Queen, who inherited the hoard of her original form and the bottomless greed that saw her betrayed.   Whatever the truth may be, it shall likely never be known.

History

A rivalry as old as memory, Vhisaur is said to have earned the Ire of the Greedqueen when he managed to best her in a competition and take the source of her innate divinity, which she herself has stolen from another creature or source long since lost to time. Without her source, The Greedqueen was forced to rely on her followers for power while Vhisaur, who had already attained Godhood through his own supremacy and dealings as a mortal, simply stored his trophy away, confident that only he was worthy of it.   Now, the two eternally feud...Vhisaur, to prove his superiority to her, and The Greedqueen, to punish him and take back what she believes is rightfully hers.

Don't think. Give.   Life is so much easier when you give.   People? Places? Things? All mine.   You are not a person. You are a thing.   My thing. My treasure.   Why be a person, when you could be a treasure?   Glittering, Golden, Wanted.   Loved and treasured.   A person is temporary. They age. They forget, and are forgotten.   If they don't give you a reason to cast them aside first.   Treasures are perfect. Treasures are valuable, even when they're doing nothing.   Even when simply observed, they have value. They earn.   Be a good treasure. Earn.   Earn for me, and earn my favor.   Earn my favor, earn my love.   Earn my love, and earn your spot in my vault.
