Highmarket, The Invisible Hand

Minor God of Supply, Demand, Salvage, and Roads

Heark, O' Lost Lambs of the sands...do not hide from his truths. You all know his touch - even if you are not consciously aware of it.   The farmer who brings his crops to market, only to find a bumper crop in the surrounding area has quartered the price he can ask for his goods...   The bartender who cleverly decides to mark up his last bottle of liquor, after seeing so many patrons thirsting for it...   The grieving widow clutching the body of her husband, who died of a disease a healer could have remedied...   We are all children of the Golden Bull. We all know his touch in our lives - we know all too well the cruelties and joys of Supply and Demand, even if the words themselves are new to us.   But those forces need not be so mysterious. Embrace the teachings of the Golden Bull, and Supply and Demand can be as moldable in your hands as clay in those of a potter.   You can be the master of your own destiny - not some hapless lamb, adrift on the currents of life, at the mercy of forces beyond your understanding!   Join us - worship the Golden Bull, and take control of your own fortunes!

Titles: The Invisible Hand, The Great Golden Bull, The Long Road, The Divine Delver, The Hand on the Scales, The Burning Eye of Kaladesh, The Vaultmaster   Favored Weapon(s): Scimitar, Falchion   Alignment: Chaotic Neutral   Church Moniker: Cult of the Great Golden Bull   Obedience: Spend an hour charting the recent trends in the local markets going back at least a month(Though especially devout followers often take pride on studying longer trends) and use them to make educated guesses about where the market will trend to next. Once done, tally up your total investments and assets and make plans to take advantage of trends in the market as best as you are able.   Obedience Effect: As a standard action, you may issue a booming announcement accompanied by a clangorous chime signaling a Bull Market on either Physical Damage, Elemental Damage, Healing, Movement Speeds, or Saving Throws. When called, this ability, until the start of the user's next turn, causes the numerical totals for the chosen category to increase by 50% for all creatures in the combat each time they are used by anyone in the combat, applied after each triggering attack, action, or instance of the chosen category. However, whenever the chosen category has been increased a number of times during the round equal to 1/2 the total number of creatures in the current combat(Rounding up), the GM must make a percentile roll in secret(Beginning around 30-50% and increasing each subsequent use of the same category that does not trigger it) to determine if hyperinflation occurs - if so, all numerical totals relating to the current category crash to their lowest possible minimum value(5ft Movement Speeds, +1 on Saves, Minimum damage/healing, etc) until the end of the next round and this obedience cannot be used until the crash ends.

Artifacts

As a relatively small faith that only barely survived the recent apocalypses that claimed so many lives across the continent of Corexus, born from the dregs of merchant deities that predate The Godsfall that marked the current Era, the faith of Highmarket possesses only one artifact to speak of - a great and mighty statue of a charging bull made from solid gold that sits in the entry hall of the Bull Market Auction House, located in the city of Kazeb within the Golden Sultanate. This mighty statue, said to be a gift bestowed upon Highmarket's faithful in the years following The Godsfall, is said to be an ever-changing measure by which the conditions of markets across the world might be judged - so long as the statue stands whole and complete without blemish or fault, great wealth and prosperity can be assured to follow. To this end, the statue is said to possess the power to bring great fortune or misfortune to those who touch it - causing many to venture from across the continent in the hopes of laying hands upon the mighty Golden Bull and being blessed with riches and fortunes beyond their wildest dreams. To do so is difficult, however - as the faithful of Highmarket, who use the Great Golden Bull's ever-changing appearance to divine the health of financial markets and country economies across the continent and beyond, rarely allow outsiders to commune with the statue without first proving themselves worthy of doing so.

Tenets of Faith

Never pass up an opportunity. Where there is demand, exploit it - where there is none, create it. All things, if they be in demand, are just.

Be proactive, Be ambitious. Where there is a good, it is your duty to see it to market - even if you must create that market. Never waste or squander what you have.

Let the money flow. See to the spread of wealth and cast down those who covet or hoard in excess. The market functions only when those who profit from it pay into it in turn.

Scavenge and Salvage. Never turn a blind eye to abandoned or forgotten goods, no matter where they may be. Seek them out and see them restored, so that what once held value may do so again.

No hand on the scale. He who lives his life by the Free Market may influence or nudge it to his hearts content, but must never control it - the market must ever be free. Accept your losses gracefully and never stifle true competition.
