Session 30: A Download Report
General Summary
So, in recovering the items from the dead vampire carcasses and whatever.....Marion was....the group found an assortment of weapons, and a good collection of gold, and some diamonds. Flick cut out a pig's tongue--odd. Pipus was the first to notice a piece of metal that Marion had underneat faer breastplate that slipped out, kind of blackish in color streaked in white--reminiscant of a monochormatic acrylic pour--with a symbol etched in it. Pipus was looking at it when Olin noticed and came over to look at it. This piece has two jagged parts, and two flat parts, and the jagged parts seem to have been broken or ripped from something...else. The symbol was recognized as one that Olin learned (FATE). And Olin upon investigating it a bit more with the make and that the symbol was machined led him to belive that this was likely from pre-Calamity. Pocketing that and the other loot, the group burns the carcasses with sacred flame, and then head back to Arden's home.
Guen is brought back to the circle of stones after her week of research and is given a note before she is sent back. She arrives through the stained glass and stepping into the library, she hears a lot of loud noises and thumps with some crashing coming from other rooms--the door to the library is closed, potentially not allerting the perpetraitor to her return. Sneaking into the lab where it has been destroyed, turned over and just all sorts of chaos, she ventured into the entryway where there were vines? metal? metal and vines? growing from the ceiling in a 'what on exandria?!' moment of confusion. She goes to investigate these vines, and finds that they are fused and are one. She does not see the ones wrapping around her, or the figure in the vines on the ceiling as an arrow finds purchase and sinks through her shoulder and she is held in place by the vines. She gets hit a few more times, and sees a figure in armor--the armor that the others saw in the room-- being worn by a masked figure with a veil.
The others arrive as the figure goes towards the kitchen where other villagers have taken cover. They go to trying to kill? stab? hurt? neutralize? this entity, and are successful in knocking it out when Olin thinks it could be Arden and that they should try to take the helmet off. When burned by it, and they tie Arden up while unconcious, Olin gets Detect Magic up, and sees the Armor giving an Abjuration effect, and the helmet a Divination and Necromancy effect. When attempting to dispel the helmets magic, the attempt is not enough, and the magic holds, but Olin sees the necromancy beak and when it gets stitched back together it's stiches are that of the Faceless Queen.
The group asks a series of 12 questions, with answers varying in usefulness. And with 8 other comments involving them, they break free their armor tentical-ing (think Doc Oc) to the ceiling, and they are there when Guen draws her pistol and shoots them and kills them outright. The body falls to the floor, the armor returning to a base state of half plate. Olin is holding onto the helmet. Ospreay is holding onto the armor--for Flick to identify.
They then spend a week helping rebuild the village, and purifying the water wheere the bodies were polluting it.
They make plans to head to Jrusar.
Olin decides to take Ospreay and Guen and Pipus into a shared dream--but a memory from the jar that he bought from the Memory Dealer. In the experience, Ospreay was seeing in first person, and Olin and Guen were just observers. Pipus....wasn't there??? This memory was interesting, and it showed a person who looked like Pipus, but isn't...and Ja'Pateyo was there too but a lot younger version. They also saw a few new faces that were named: Pendi, Sage, Gilly, Thalia, and they heard a voice that the others called Kronk. Interesting stuff with plans to go on another mission....but the Thalia person said that "he" wasn't doing well and that the person who they are looking through the eyes of maybe shouldn't go on this mission due to that... but the memory ended there. How rude.
Rewards Granted
The party looted ~500 gold from the vampires, and found some diamonds on the corpses (split between 15 corpses). They gained the half-plate armor Arden's alter ego was wearing--that was in the room, and the helmet with the veil. They were also given some gems by the villagers. (sapphires, emeralds and amythysts). Hilariously, they also gained a house...since Arden is dead, and the villagers are all moving back to their homes in the Silent Divine....they can claim it as theirs if they wish. A lot of the symbol activated things that Arden had set up died with them though.
The Party is now level 9.
