Session 27: The Mountain Home Report

It is the night of a full moon, Flick, Guen, and Pipus settle down for the night in a tiny hut that Flick provides. About 3-4 hours into the main sleep portion of the nights rest for Flick and Guen, something runs into and slams into the tiny hut. A small figure, frantic, takes off in one direction. A few moments later, as if to explain why this thing was running at break-neck survival speeds, two elongated more monsterous figures move through the area giving chase. Rousing, intent to see if they could help the first creature, the 3 take off in pursuit. They manage to catch up and engage with two frenzied vampires, managing to kill them both, but not before Guen was bit. They saved a little harregon kid, who is black and brown in fur, who has the name Mattias. This is when they notice a fire with a sleeping form, and Guen, Pipus, and Flick approach wondering if the figure is asleep. They get close enough to see an insectoid creature wearing a cloak.   It is in the moments they start to approach Arden that Olin and Ospreay emerge from the forest, and see a couple figures seemingly ready to attack Arden. In the moment that Ospreay goes to attack, Olin sees Flick in the dim light, and manages to stop the attack and Arden wakes. The group decides to bed for the night and shares some information, as well as some frustrations. The group rests and sets out in the daylight through the forest. On the journey to Arden's home, Flick inscribes a rune into his armor and tries charging it with a few spells, and Olin tries too, but Olin's attack lets loose a fireball that kills Mattias. In a fate bending moment, Olin manages to somehow bend and break fate to bring Mattias back, one eye black the other pure white, and fur completely black upon waking.   They reach a clear area between the forest and the Aggrad Mountains nearish to the river that cuts thorough from them. The group is told to wait as Arden minimizes and leaves telling them to stay in the tree line. As they wait, they see a dragon-like sillouette in the sky flying as if hunting something in the fields that they were told to not cross into. Arden returns with little bracelets that allow the user to minimize and retrun to normal size once a day with a tap to activate a rune. They minimize and head through a tunnel dug by a smallish creature, gaining a safe entry to Arden's mountain home. Where they are shown the lab, and they get to see some of the towns folk from The Silent Divine, who are in the main living areas. They meet Olin's Mom, Beth, who is helping in the kithen with Olin's brother Bryant, and they are told that Olin's other brother is out on a patrol, Owen. Olin goes into the air vents to fetch his dad, Andre who is a not solid air genasi, and are told Clara, Olin's sister, is missing, or has not been found and is assumed to be among those who remain held in the barn and used as feed for the new residents. They return Mattias to his parents.   Arden tells the group that she is a member of the Arcane Sisterhood and how they were found by this group in a really dark place and the people who saved them. She offers Guen a new notebook and passage to go to one of the experts in the sisterhood for a little while for research if she chooses to take it. Guen talks with the group and does take the offer while the others deal with the stuff local to the Silent Divine. A few days pass and Arden gives armor Flick wears an update with some new cloth from their home, and a rune from thier home. They also do something similar for Olin, outfitting him in black armor, instead of the purple stuff he'd been wearing and given from his family. The group also got some new toys.   They take a beat to plan an attack for how to rescue the rest of the living folks. And Guen is increasingly more and more tired. Olin and Ospreay do manage to see something is up and are able to cure her of the vampirism that was taking over her system.   Catha is a Waning Gibbous, and for a few days as they craft plans and gather materials, it slowly goes towards the Waning Half Moon.
