When human wizards used their magic to enslave Beasts and fight one another they would create resting pools where ever they battled. These pools are completely still.

A resting pool is a paranormal thing that sucks in ambient magic from the life force and memories of anything that floats in it. this causes the thing to dissolve into foam that makes the land around the pool grow and flower. Humans after losing knowledge of magic believe that the pools release the soul from the body and send it back to the great beyond. As such, they are used in Funeral rites.
