Dane Lopatin

Dane Lopatin is a young human cleric of the sun god Selot. He is roughly 6 feet tall and well muscled. His weapons of choice are his faith and his mace. He grew up in the small town of Hound Hill and is the youngest of three children. His parents are Wayne and Elaine. The oldest of the three sibling is Blaine who is an officer in the Midour military. Jane is the next oldest and works for a magistrate in Onivar, the capital of the Midour kingdom. Dane became an acolyte of the Church of Selot when he was 10. Normally an acolyte would be sent off to further their studies, but the nearest academy is hundreds of miles away. Because of this Dane was allowed to live and study at the small monastary in Hound Hill. The head of the monastary, Father Murlinn and one of the monks, brother Alucane have both taught Dane nearly everything that he knows of the Selot faith, though the two are quite different in their teaching methods. Alucane teaches Dane the rituals and teachings of the Selot faith and has attempted to instill a sense of discipline and quiet patience in him. Father Murlinn has taught him to listen to within his own heart to learn what Selot wants of him and to follow it for guidance. Dane performs all his religious duties and studies diligently, but as soon as he has finished for the day, he goes into Hound Hill to visit family and "bring Selot to the people" , not by preaching, but by doing good works. Whenever someone is in need, Dane is the first to volunteer to help. It was while traveling to Onivar to offer healing for a malady going through the poorer parts of the city, that he met Luka Jorgan in the woods. Luka is a recluse that lives in the woods outside of Hound Hill. He has lived in the woods for as long as he can remember and most "civilized" folk shun him, worried that he will one day lose control and hurt someone. Dane immediately befriended him and would visit the hermit in the woods often and Luka would often join him in helping those in need. With Dane's endorsement and Luka's willingness to help Dane help the townsfolk, the hermit came to be accepted and trusted. Though Dane is more than capable of defending himself and others, he prefers to take the diplomatic approach whenever possible.
