X is a <race> wizard currently in the employ of The Magistrate. As most other aspiring wizards, X had little option of studying the arts of arcana but through the scholars at the temple of Arcon, God of Knowledge, where all those taught in magic are granted authorization to use magic, but in turn have to serve The Magistrate  for as long as their health allows; ill faiths have befallen those who tried avoiding this lifelong task.

Specifically, X have, since achieving the title of apprentice and no longer being bound to the classrooms of the Temple, been the apprentice of Magister Briella Viens. In this function, X have participated in the hunt of unauthorized sorcerers; and while Briella is not known to be unnecessarily cruel in her pursuit, there is no doubt that the punishment for those caught is hard. Those who put up a fight more often than not end up burnt to a crisp, but to X that still seems a better faith than the majority who surrenders. X have seen what happens to them, how they are thrown into the magical vortex in the lake in the capital Incantia. It is for X impossible to tell whats down there, but whatever beast it is seems to have a never ending apetite for raw arcana and any creatures from which it can extract it. X has never been told why The Magistrate, led by state-sorcerer Matteus Candentes , is so focused on this hunt of mages; only the upper echelons of The Magistrate knows that secret.

X's most recent task has been to follow Briella Viens , as well as Headmagister Bartolleus Flech  and Magister Cillionn Ferear  to Rivington , in pursuit of three escapees from Tearmark Prison , multiple of which have shown magical talent. X does of course know that the fourth travler in the company, believed to be another escapee, is in fact the researcher Vye Agra tasked with investigating the magical effects of Tearmark prison on its inmates. It was before the escape unknown to the magistrate that Vye Agra  was in fact a sorcerer, but the organisation has not revealed his real identity to the others in the party.
