The Archdryad
Summary
Little is known about the reality of the Archdryad, save for its legend among the peoples of the forest and the Hunter's Guild. What is said is that the presence of the Archdryad is felt in the deepest parts of all the forested planes of Cinder's Hope.
Historical Basis
The Archdryad has been described as both a furious force of nature and a caring protectorate of the natural world. Poachers and foresters have reported sudden catastrophic luck and the feeling of being watched that is attributed to the presence of the Archdryad. On the other hand, notable Hunters and Pioneers have spoken of falling victim to the forests, only to awaken beyond the treeline with vague memories of a magical natural force coming to their rescue, events that are once again attributed to the Archdryad.
Spread
Most people are unaware of the supposed Archdryad, and only those within the circles of Hunters and woodsmen ever hear the name whispered among the curious or inebriated. This subtle influence has led to most tellings of the Archdryad to be cryptic and nonspecific, but present nonetheless.
Variations & Mutation
Speak of the Archdryad streaches between a cryptid spirit that is a portrent of doom do a budding deity of divine importance. Some speak of cursed souls trapped within the flesh of trees, forever trapped within their final moments, while others say families have been blessed with preternatural harvests and successful hunts.
Cultural Reception
While most people steer clear of unfounded legends of strange boogymen or undefined spirits there are fewer who build shrines to the Archdryad who is said to accept gifts of fruits and crafts.
