Storm Raiders
Structure
The chain of command of the Storm Raiders can be quite tricky to navigate, and even messier to describe outright. This is because the dejure and defacto leaders and titles are often unaligned causing confusion among ranks. While service often allows new recruits to rise through the ranks rapidly, the rule of thumb seems to favor elders within the ranks more than those of equal or even higher rank who are younger. This is then trumped by those chosen directly by their leader: Rowan Gauldhammar. Even then, many orders from the cohort of Gauldhammar are ignored when they are out of sight, to the chagrin of Rowan himself.
Culture
The Storm Raiders serve more as a veterans hall than an organized military unit. In recent history, the Storm Raiders have suffered heavy losses in major battles and while they have made a small comeback in more recent years, they are far from the military force they once were. The Storm Raiders have come under scruitany, however, as their leader Rowan Gauldhammar, has claimed to be a decendant of the smith-god Degir. While many have been skeptical of his claims, many others have began to flock to the Storm Raiders in hopes of receiving some sort of blessing. Conveinently, this has allowed for greater noteriety and a higher volume of contracts.
Public Agenda
Overall, the Storm Raiders are the very definition of hired muscle. While often without specialization and sometimes even leaving strategy to the wind, brute force can be effective in myriad affairs. Cheap access to warm bodies for a variety of menal tasks will always be a commodity, and thus the Storm Raiders continue to thrive. Most contracts include guard duty, body guarding, rubble clearing, construction, intimidation and, patroling. Most storm raiders are guardsmen that participate when they are not directly needed or former soldiers.
