During the The Settling Wars great profit and advancement had been made in the ways of battle sorceries and spells. Since Magical reasearch was privitised and mostly persued by individuals or closed organizations, there was great incentive for magical research to be directed towards warfare. Fundamentalist Magic began to take hold for its classical functionality and veritility as well as its advantage against non-fundamentalist mages. This resulted in a magical arms race of sorts, with each arcane university vying for greater and greater advantages. However, the mages at the forefront of this research were often unchecked and would even wage smaller proxy wars against other univerities even if their alighned settlements were not at war. The effectiveness of Fudamentalist magic and the power it offered to its preceptors led to sudden concentrations of total chaos within Cinder's Hope, a Chaos that mirrored many amongst the The Gray Order's worst fears.
One of the first steps towards unification was the proffer of an alterative. With help from a heavily magic-focused settlement near
Lake Omen specalists in magical form, including one of the most powerful funsamentalists mages at the time, were recruited to form what would become
Collegic League of Arcane Arts. Sir Roder Aldraque leading the way, backed by
The Gray Order.
Fundanetalist Magos-Hunters were deployed on every battlefield, systematically weeding out fundamentalist mages and either bringing them into the fold or annihilating them and their works. Many skilled Mages were provided amnesty given they reliquish territorial ambitions and inturned to a life of study and academia instead of warmongering. This continued for some time until the end of
The Settling Wars were the final errata was deployed agaisnt a proto-settlment on the shores of Lake Omen and the Fundamentalist-Magos were retired to the annals of history.
Establishment of the Collegic League as the central font of arcane knowlege and discourse.
Fundamnetalist Magics have become a relic of a more violent time and have become something of a taboo topic when exploring the arcane. Most discussions of the arcane now revolve around the furthest limits of arcane truths rather than the innermost workings of arcane architechture.
