Caeus
Emperor Caesus Karn (a.k.a. The Blooded Ruler)
Mortal Beginnings
Long before he ascended to godhood, Caeus was born as a mortal in the war-torn deserts of Tellabrim. He was the son of a cruel warlord who ruled over his people with an iron fist, instilling fear and obedience through brutality. From a young age, Caeus was taught that power was the only truth in the world, and that those who held it could bend others to their will. As he grew, he embraced this philosophy, quickly rising through the ranks of his father’s warriors, known for his ruthlessness and cunning. Caeus was not content to merely serve under his father; he desired absolute power. Driven by an insatiable thirst for control, he betrayed his father, orchestrating a bloody coup that ended with him seizing the throne. As the new ruler, Caeus expanded his dominion through conquest, crushing all who opposed him. His name became synonymous with terror, and under his rule, the deserts of Tellabrim were united, but at a great cost. The people suffered under his oppressive reign, but Caeus cared little for their plight—only for the expansion of his power. The Pact with Brodonna
Caeus’s insatiable thirst for power drove him to seek the favor of Brodonna, the goddess of misfortune. Known for her capricious nature and her influence over the dark twists of fate, Brodonna saw in Caeus a mortal willing to embrace the chaos she thrived upon. Caeus, in his quest for dominance, performed a series of grim rituals, offering the lives of thousands in a macabre display of devotion, all to gain Brodonna's attention. When Brodonna finally appeared, she offered Caeus a pact. In exchange for his unwavering loyalty and the acceptance of her misfortune-laden gifts, she would grant him god-like powers. Caeus, blinded by ambition, eagerly agreed. Brodonna, with a twisted smile, infused Caeus with a portion of her dark essence, transforming him into a demigod. His influence grew rapidly; entire armies fell under his command with a mere word, and even the strongest wills crumbled before his might. Declaring himself the Emperor of Cinder, Caeus demanded worship as a living god. Ascension and Rebellion As Caeus’s power expanded, so did his ambitions. He was no longer content to rule Cinder; he desired to ascend fully to godhood. However, instead of seeking further blessings from Brodonna, Caeus, in his hubris, sought to break free from her chains. Believing he had outgrown his patron goddess, he began to challenge her influence, intent on claiming his own place among the gods, unbound by her will. Through dark magic and conquest, Caeus solidified his power, finally ascending to godhood. But as he did, he foolishly declared war on Brodonna herself, seeking to prove his newfound strength. In his arrogance, he also challenged Luthos, the goddess of divinity and Brodonna’s sister, believing that defeating both would cement his supremacy. The Banishing
The battle that followed was catastrophic. Caeus, drunk on power and blinded by ambition, faced the combined might of Brodonna and Luthos. Despite his newfound godhood, he was no match for the two sisters. Their combined powers overwhelmed him, and in a final act of divine retribution, they banished Caeus to Tayrania, the lowest layer of hell, where only the most cursed and forsaken deities reside. Though they could not strip him of the power Brodonna had bestowed upon him, they ensured he would never become too strong by sealing him away. Trapped in Tayrania, Caeus’s dreams of domination were shattered, leaving him to rule a twisted kingdom of despair and torment, far from the mortal realm and the gods he once sought to conquer. The God of Tyranny
Caeus now reigns as the God of Tyranny in Tayrania, his dark dominion in the deepest depths of hell. Worshipped by tyrants, despots, and those who seek power through oppression, Caeus’s influence still reaches the mortal world, though it is a shadow of what it once was. He whispers in the ears of rulers, fueling their lust for control, but his true power remains shackled by the divine seal placed upon him by Brodonna and Luthos. Though he achieved godhood, Caeus remains a prisoner of his own ambition. His is a hollow existence, defined by the very tyranny he sought to impose on others—a god of power, but eternally bound by the misfortune that granted him his strength.
