Luka

Luka is a 13 years old red fox shapeshifter. He is of average size for his age, but possesses above average strenght and stamina, both as a result of his training to be a mercenary, and him being a shapeshifter.

Luka has a few scars on his pale skin, which are motly found on and around his upper back and shoulders. However, for most of the time, these scars aren't fully visible, as Luka very rarely shifts away from his common form, meaning that they are partialy covered up by fur.

Luka has a few unique and identifiable marks on his body. He has a silver burn mark around his left wrist, rendering the skin there slightly darker than the rest of his arm. This was caused by a silver bracelet that was left on him for long periods of time without pauses. On his face, along his right cheek and stretching up to his right eye, Luka has a pale, elongated scar, which was caused by a silver sword grazing his face.

Luka is a Shapeshifter, who's body and soul are linked to a red fox Ikshai since birth. This means that he can transform into a red fox, or a human-fox hybrid at will.   He isn't particularly strong, especialy compared to other shapeshifters of his age, but he makes up that weakness with his speed, which is the aspect of his body he's trained the most at the guild. Unlike his friend Melwyn, Luka has no problem controling his ikshai, and in fact has better control over it than even some adults do.   This control over his Ikshai has allowed him to develop other abilities related to his connection to the Ether. In particular, Luka has begun receiving visions a year or two ago, which are embeded in his dreams, and he's been busy learning to decode them as well as continuing his physical training.

Luka was born in the western regions of the Kingdom of Alvaros, in a small mining village south of the City of Voltai, located near the border of the Arthesian tribeslands. This is were he would grow up, peaceful with his family, until disaster struck.   On one hot sunny day of summer, in the year 362, just a month after Luka had celebrated is 5th birthday, they came. A group of raiders, numbering around 200, invaded the village from the south. Many of its inhabitants were killed or kidnapped and eventualy sold to slavery   Luka was caught by them while playing with his friend in the forest outside the town. His friend, a human named Penn, was killed, while Luke himself was nearly killed, but then was kidnapped after they noticed his shapeshifting abilities when he tried to save his friend.   After being knocked out, Luka woke up in a dingi cell room. He would try to escape every day for the next week, all in vain. He regained some hope when he was let out, only for it to be destroyed again as he realised that he was being sold to a slaver.   His new master would bring him to a small town to the north-east of the ruins of Samerin. There, and for the next 4 years, he and about a dozen other slaves around his age would be forced to perform various activities for the master and the town's entertainement. These would include seemingly inocent stuff like juggling, dancing, singing, but also forced fights that often resulted in wounds.   During that time, Luka would also be forced to keep his human form at all times. To do this, he had to learn how to completly control his Ikshai at a much younger age than is typicaly seen. If he failed to do so, he would be beaten up and starved. Often, his master would force him and others to beat up the people who broke that rule. Luka himself was also beaten up on occasion for the same reason.    In winter of 366, a group of mercenaries from the Guild of Fethir invaded the town and liberated the slaves. In the fight, that ensued, the slave master was killed along with some of his guards. The slaves were freed, but most chose to join the guild. Luka was sent to the Guild's Larasor chapter, where he came under the care of Makhlem.   During the year 368, when Luka was 12 years old, he would meet Melwyn for the first time, and would quickly become great friends. They bonded over not only their similar trauma, but also thanks to their similar skills. Both liked archery, both liked playing games, both liked to draw, and both wanted to become mercenaries working for the guild.   Around the same time as Melwyn left for the Kingdom of Gysia, Luka would develop a new ability -Premonitions, which he began to train. This involved learning to decode them while also continuing to train physicaly, notably on his fighting skills. He oftens feels bored without his best friend around and is excited for melwyn to come back to the city of Larasor

Luka learned how to speak Kavasian from his master, but wasn't allowed to read or write in it, or in any other language. After he was rescued by the guild, he learned how to write and read in not only Kavasian, but also in Esnian, although he is much more confortable with Kavasian. He learned a little bit of history, geography and mathematics since then.

Luka has trauma from the day he was captured by Arthesian raiders when he was 5 years old, as well as from being imprisoned for a few days in an underground prison. He was then sold off to a slave master in Kavasia, who used him as entertainment for the next 4 years, until he was rescued by The Guild of Fethir.   For this reason and others, Luka doesn't like being in his human form. Instead, he vastly prefers to remain either in his common form (Human-fox hybrid) or fully as a fox. This is especialy the case if he finds himself in public with strangers.

Luka's current motivations are closely linked to his troubled past. He trains hard every day in order to get stronger and faster for two main reasons. He is motivated by the fact that when he gets older and stronger, he'll be able to join the other guild fighters on their missions, who help people like him escape slavery.   More personaly, he also believes that the reason he was captured as a kid is because he was too weak and slow, so ever since he joined the guild, he has been training hard to overcome these supposed flaws.

Luka is a member of the Guild of Fethir, one of the most powerful mage guild on the continent of Arros. While he isn't an official member of the organisation just yet, as he is just 13 years old and thus still too young, he lives with people that are.

After he was kidnapped from his village in south-western Alvaros, Luka lost contact with his family, including his two parents and his sister. He believes them to still be alive, but he also realises that there is a good chance they are in fact dead. Nonetheless, he is planning to travel back to his childhood village soon in order to have answers.

Luka believes in Halin, the Choranian deity and sometimes prays to him at the local Suriat, or at the smaller one built within the chapter hall. However, while he believes in Halin, he doesn't follow the Bekura's (Choranian holy book) tenents very closely.

Luka is well spoken but sky around people, especialy as a human. He doesn't like being in a large crowd and hates speaking to one. He actively tries to avoid situations like this, notably refusing to go to the market as there are too many people there. These fears are greatly reduced when he's able to be a fox instead, as he's able to disassociate from the situation a little bit and feels more confortable.
