Wolves and Crows
"...3, 2, 1, ready or not, here we come!"Wolves and Crows is a chasing game played by children and teenagers alike, where the goal is for the wolves to find, chase, and catch all of the crows before time runs out.-The wolve(s) announcing the start of the chase.
History
Many cultures have independantly came up with very similar games in the past thousands of years, but this specific one developed during the late years of the Second Age, and seemed to have originates from various countries, who called the game by various names. The name "Wolves and Crows" specificaly originated from Western Arros, specificaly from the Kingdom of Paxolia, or the Kingdom of North-Shorai, scholars aren't sure. Nevertheless, the name stuck and spread east to the rest of Arros, and across the Narrow sea, into the Continent of Enaskia.
Execution
The game is played in a set area with fixed boundaries, usualy agreed upon by the players prior to the begining of the game. In the centre of the designated area, 1-4 "wolves" count down from 10-20-30 seconds. Meanwhile, the "crows", who number at least double that of the wolves, must hide in the designated play area.
Once the countdown is over, the wolves disperse to try and locate the hidden crows. Once found, the crow must try and run away, while the wolf must catch them by touching them on any part of their body. Once caught, the crow is either excluded from the game, or becomes a wolf as well, depending on the version of the game chosen.
The game can be won in two ways. Either all of the crows are found and caught by the wolves, or at least one crow manages to survive long enough, until the end of the game. The games usualy last up to an hour, but can sometimes last much longer depending on the number of participants.
Participants
A group of around 10-30 people are seperated into two groups: The wolves and the crows. The wolves's goal is to find, chase and catch all of the crows before time runs out. The Crows's goal is to hide, then run away from the wolves and survive until time runs out.
Observance
Since Wolves and Crows is a popular game amongst both children and teens, it is frequently played during celebrations where younger people are presents, and in fact, even in places hosting a lot of childrens together, such as orphanages. However, both the space required for the chase, and the number of required hiding spots for the crows can be limiting factors as to the frequency by which the game is played.
