The Conflict
Outcome
Lower Luenje was annexed by the March of Aranje and Margrave Armans of Aranje took the title Duke of Lower Luenje to signify his control over the region. Duke Céneric of Luenje was executed for treason against both Mendia and Néresia.
Aftermath
The Duchy of Luenje was severely weakened and reduced in size. Isabèla de Coflens, the wife of Armans's nephew, was made Duchess of Luenje.
Historical Significance
Legacy
The annexation of Lower Luenje into the March of Aranje has caused a great deal of tension between Margrave Armans, then his son King-Margrave Vicent II after his death, and Grand Duchess Carolène. The Grand Duchess believes that Lower Luenje is rightfully part of Mendia, while the rulers of Aranje have refused to relinquish control of the region.
