The Chain 07: Cracking Skulls in Karrlakton

The Commander Speaks!

  As the Chain of Avalas strikes north along the Cyre River, Peacock finally breaks his silence and goes about making.. a list.
 

Firstly, treat guests with the utmost courtesy.
Two, what is the status of the current contract?
Third, we need a new master of drills.
Four, what is the status of our officers?
Five, we need a plan.

Beans steps down as the Chronicler of the Chain, handing over responsibility to Totter. She is ashamed of cracking under the pressure at Rosehall, and wants someone more seasoned and responsible to take over. She offers to help with research in any way needed, however. Peacock promptly makes a new officer role for Beans, Master of Lists.  

The Healthy's Awe

  The army makes it to Karrlakton and Fonta begins making arrangements with the dockmasters while the team sets about looking for a base of operations for the officers. The most highly regarded inn in town is unanimous: the Healthy's Awe. The officers go to this establisment and are greeted by a very kindly and proper elf, who offers them fine meals and beverages, as well as companionship for the night, as escorts of all types begin filing out to help in the dining hall/tavern area of the inn. Peacock quickly picks two escorts and leads them upstairs for some private time.  

Leads in Karrlakton

• Lizia recently had a burglary at her magic shop! She is offering a reward of 500 gp for return of the stolen goods.
• Lawbringer Netta d'Deneith is offering 500 gp for someone to deal with the bandit problems that are disrupting business along the road between Karrlakton and Vedykar. Peacock and Seven negotiated for extra money if they are able to find any further bandit activity and put a stop to it.

 

A Shocking Ambush!

While investigating and shopping, Totter and Seven were waylaid by some thugs in the street! What began as a simple 'roaming toll bridge' operation led to bloodshed, despite Totter's warnings to the thugs. And, unexpectedly, the leader cried out to his 'mistress' in the final moments and breathed lightning all over Totter. One of the thugs got away, and as Totter investigated the bodes, he found a star-like tattoo of five serpentine heads on the leader's upper back.
