The Stonelords of Barbandos
Structure
The line of High Kings of the Stonebeard clan streaches far and centuries back to the past. The original and first clan of dwarves in Astraeegis Prime. SInce then several other clans have been forged. Great allies of the Stonebeards.
Culture
The Stonelords concist of Clansmen and Runesmiths. The two castes of the Dwarven Hierarchy. The Clansmen being the population as a whole, accompanied by the so-called Runesmiths which is an honorarry title to those who exell amongst the dwarves. Their magnificent crafts, magical aptitute, and ability to craft the mightiest wondrous items in all of the western and eastern kingdoms. Only rivaled by the elves´ legacy, as they have not been engaged in such trivial matters for centuries.
Public Agenda
They craft and create to secure their adamantine grip on the lands of Barbandos. Controlling the economic flow between both realms of east and the west. They keep their blueprints close to their chest, refusing any payment to teach the dwarven secrets to men, lizard- or beastfolk.
When the Inquisition wielded their influential might and commanded the monarchy of the eastern kingdoms for a truce, the dwarves opened up their doors to let the Kings and Queens to meet in Aldamar for the first time in any age. The dwarven capital of Barbandos humbled the human leaders, seeing the splendor of what the dwarves are capable of, and all men does not see hiding below the mountains.
The stone-lords protected all participants as per the ancient law. Making the the Pact between nations come to fruition. Giving birth to the International Trade Deal, allowing them all to trade goods with free access to each other in exchange to swearing non-agression pacts. No ruler would need to empty their pockets to get their hands on much needed resources, but still it did not mean the dwarves would reveal any of their technological or magical secrets.
Assets
The Stone Lords possess a wealth and abundance of Silver and gold, buildings, troops, equipment, weapons, ships and horses, surfaceworld castles integrated into the mountainside, and underground fortifications impenetrable by even the Black Orcs. Or so they say.
