Elven Religion

Elves carry out a highly idiosyncratic and personal style of worship, either as individuals or societies, based on orthodoxy (the idea that the intent and belief of the worhipping individual is most important).  Nevertheless, elves believe that all deities must be worshipped, and that gods grow jealous and vengeful if they are not given their due reverence and respect.  The elven pantheon consists of a number of Titans and Gods.  Titans were the creators of the planes, chiefly the Earth (Prime Material Plane), while gods were lesser deities created by the saviour-titans in the Theagony (their war against the betrayer-titans).  Both elves and many other people hold the view that the elven pantheon is the true and original one, from which all other gods are derived.   Elves worship at specific holy sites within their realms, or at places in the wider world believed to have once been part of an earlier, now destroyed, elven realm.  Such places are usually of great natural beauty and inspire reverence: waterfalls or pools along a river, groves and mountain summits, valleys and meadows.   Elves carry out ceremonies in the way that appears best to them, especially in ways that have been revealed in visions or dreams.  Offerings might be allowed to float into water or be submerged, buried in the ground, or given to the winds or wild animals.  They usually involve music, singing and dancing, often in ecstatic events where the individual is lost in the passion of the moment.  Elven rites are often compared to their style of rhapsodic poetry, which contains traditional elements put together in unique ways and contain many original elements with considerable creative flair.
