Diaesthetic (DY-es-THET-ic)

Mental communication, mind-to-mind.   Nureet runs the training center on the continent from her walled compound in Hanunga.   She has worked to build a worldwide network of diaesthetics to enable relatively quick and easy communication to all significant cities and most large towns. Anyone can walk into a Diaesthetic Office anywhere in the world and have a message sent to anyone within the service area of any other Diaesthetic Office anywhere else in the world.   Becoming a diaesthetic requires skill in Earth and Ether. Most people with any amount of ability in both can learn to communicate diaesthetically to some degree. In general, it requires knowing the person you wish to communicate with well. To work with the Diaesthetic Office additionally requires being able to receive messages at any time, even when not specifically open to it or concentrating on it, and the ability to develop solid, durable connections with a variety of people.   Official Diaesthetic Office training involves basic skills instruction, and then assignment to a station, where the trainee begins making connections with whoever else is assigned to that location. Once or twice a year, people are reassigned to new locations, where they make new connections, and so are gradually worked into the network.
