Nazzareth
Nazzareth is the ancient capital of the Calradic Empire, and the site of the arrival of Godric the All-Father to Calradia to begin the Second Age. Nazzareth is the 2nd most populace city on the continent, and is surrounded by the massive walls originally raised at it's founding, which shone with holy light until a few decades ago. The city is along the foot of Mt. Aethelstan, the holiest place on the continent, and the home of the monster hunters of the Order Malleus. Since it's founding, no army has ever seriously threatened it's walls, and due to it's holy nature, it has been considered a place where diplomats of other nations could meet without fear of reprisal. Vast wealth has also been concentrated here as the years have gone on, with the old imperial treasury being located in vaults below the royal palace here. It is said that Brannon Vuin or "The Beloved Lord", the Longsword gifted to the first Emperor of Calradia upon his ascension by Saint Alesia, is still held safely in the palace vaults.
In the days of old, the walls shone so brightly that the citizens would need to shutter their own windows to sleep at night. As annoying as the light was, it provided a deep sense of safety and wellbeing to those in it's light, which has since been replaced by a growing sense of unease in it's absence.
Nazzareth has been a center of learning and governance for so long that, even after the split of the empire, much of the gathered knowledge of the civilized races remains within it's walls. The largest university of the continent, the Holy University of St. Ecclesius, is located in the city and continues to produce the most skilled wizards, engineers, administrators, and healers available anywhere.
Most anyone of importance in the empire has an estate in Nazzareth or it's surrounding communities, and a position as a city governor is equivalent to being made an advisor to the emperor himself.
