Enris
The Starchild
Ages ago, when the world was a savage place, there were a couple of warmongering tribes in the area that is today known as Agrevath. These tribes were constantly warring and vying for dominion over each other. It is said that a young woman in one of the tribes had a vision of invading hordes befalling their settlement. The men of the opposing tribe had learned to forge steel weapons, had armed themselves with these weapons and were on the move. The woman, Enris, tried to warn the village elders of the looming danger but they did not want to listen to her warnings as they were arrogant and self-assured. At a loss she climbed the nearby cliffs and prayed to the stars that could be seen in their sparkling glory in the clear night sky. She prayed for guidance and insight on how to sway the elders. In the morning she descended the cliffs with a clear mind and entered her village. She appealed to the elders again but was cast out of the community as a trouble maker and witch. The people of the tribe shoved her roughly through the settlement and threw refuse her way. Her warnings went unheeded...
Beaten, bruised and filthy she stumbled out into the night. Seeking solace in the company of the vast and sheltering firmament she ascended the cliffs again. There she spent the next day watching the plane beneath her. She watched the people of her village go about their lives, their daily business, then ready themselves for the night, ignorant of the impending disaster. Then, just after sundown they came. They swooped down from the hills to the north and the people of her tribe were no match for the steel-armed invaders and soon neither woman, man nor child was left. They did not spare a single soul. Enris watched her people die and her home burn.
She did not give in to hatred. Enris did not feel spite. She prayed for the lives lost and asked that their souls be spared in the afterlife, for the living did not know better. Then she flung herself off of the cliff. But the Gods were moved by her appeal and compassion and showed mercy to this young woman. Enris was elevated to the heavens and spends the rest of eternity among the stars, which she loved so dearly.Divine Domains
