Far Glade
The debate over whether Far Glade can truly be called a kingdom of the ‘New North’ is still raging in the halls of the Frontiersmen guild as, technically, Far Glade is older than any other kingdom in Hisenor and maybe also anywhere in the world. Explorers following the Trystel River to its source stumbled across Far Glade in PR.3099. This huge valley is where the Trystel river begins, as hot springs bubble up from below the surface and melt the ice in a large area. This has created a unique ecosystem. The temperature in Far Glade is practically temperate, although it is surrounded by sheer walls of ice and snow, hundreds of feet high and the only way in or out is on the Trystel River. The whole valley is filled with unique, purple and pink leaved foliage found nowhere else in the world and animal species never seen before.
The valley is fiercely protected by a number of tribes. Elves, Firbolg, Gnomes, and Centaur are all represented here, and the tribes have been here for untold millenia, never venturing beyond the icy walls of their home. They are highly tribal and speak in what many Linguistic experts believe may be ancient versions of their individual dialects. They are intensely mistrustful of outsiders and, even though limited trade and knowledge exchange has been established, they have yet to let any outsider settle in their lands. It is estimated there may be fewer than three thousand natives in the valley all told.
Structure
There is no true structure to Far Glade, aside from the leaders of each individual tribe. The tribes seem to work together peacefully to keep and defend the whole area.
Culture
Sealed away from the world for millennia, the tribes of Far Glade are generally mistrustful of outsiders and prefer to keep to themselves, in their valley. They have a deep love of nature, feeling a real connection to it.
Public Agenda
There is no clear Agenda that the tribes of Far Glade have put out to the world as they are more concerned with goings on in their own homes.
Assets
While the true wealth of Far Glade is difficult to gauge, it is evident from limited trade interactions that there are number of exceedingly rare species of flora and fauna that are endemic to Far Glade, as well as a fair amount of rare metal and gemstone veins.
Demography and Population
It is very difficult to gauge the demographics of Far Glade. The tribes are highly secretive. Indeed, many of their villages have never been seen by outside eyes. What is known is that the majority of the population appear to be divided between Centaurs, Firblog, Gnomes, Elves, and Satyr, but in what ratio is unclear.
Territories
Far Glade occupies a single valley, surrounded by towering walls of ice. The valley itself is temperate, heated by geothermal springs. This valley is considered by the tribes to be their Ancestral lands, hallowed ground, and only a select few outsiders are granted the privilege of setting foot within the borders.
Military
Each tribe has trained warriors. For most this a small contingent of fighting folk. For others, it would appear the whole tribe is trained and ready to fight to defend their homes.
Technological Level
Far Glade is a backwater for technology. They trust in the strength of their time-tested traditional tools, and are like as to destroy any more advanced technology gifted to them.
Religion
While it is recognised that the tribes of Far Glade do indeed worship The Pantheon, it would seem that their isolation has led to do so in a much more shamanistic manner. What the Gods themselves think of this is yet to be heard.
Foreign Relations
The tribes of Far Glade do not really care for the nations beyond their border, but accept that they are a reality and aim to treat all diplomats with care and respect.
Agriculture & Industry
The tribes of Far Glade produce enough food and material to support themselves, never taking more than they need. Whether this a product of their limited lands, or linked to their belief system is still unclear.
Education
Most tribes in Far Glade have little use for the written word and, even in those that do, members of the tribe who can read and write are viewed as strange. Knowledge is instead passed down orally, with elders teaching the young all they need to know to survive.
