Born Bertilda Synesia of Ferossa, Queen Bertilda was the eldest child of the Synesia family, the counts of the rich trade city of Ferossa. Used to riches already, she moved in the right circles to catch the eye of the young king Bernado, with no small amount of help from her brother, Herrota. The rest, as they say, is history.
