Appearance

Zephyros is a slender, aerodynamic hound formed entirely of whirling wind and storm-energized air. Its body shifts and swirls like a living cyclone, with wings made of swirling vapor and thunder. Its eyes are glowing streaks of blue lightning, and when it moves, it leaves behind a trail of gale-force wind that bends trees and rocks alike.   Zephyros's howl can be heard for miles, echoing like a tornado through the skies.

Origins & Mythos

 

Born from the Winds of War

Zephyros was created during the Eclipse Epoch as the living embodiment of the howling winds that swept across the planes. When Voryn, The Endless Cyclone, The Endless Cyclone, sought to reshape the very fabric of air and the skies, Zephyros emerged to represent the unchecked fury of storms. It is said that Voryn shaped Zephyros to be a guardian, capable of both annihilating and nurturing the air in equal measure.   Zephyros served as both a force of destruction and a cosmic reckoning, tasked with sweeping away the forces that defiled the balance of air and wind during the divine war. It was said that wherever it passed, storms raged in its wake, leaving calm only when it was satisfied.  

The Airborne Judicator

Zephyros is often referred to as the Skybreaker. It is believed that in ancient times, when the forces of fire and earth sought dominance, Zephyros would appear to scatter and disrupt their plans with its violent winds. It cleanses the skies from corruption, passing judgment on creatures that have offended the natural world. No one can stop Zephyros when it strikes, as its speed and ferocity rival the very tempests it controls.

Powers and Abilities

Mythic Entity Traits:

Tempest Step: Zephyros can phase in and out of the Material Plane, leaving behind a trail of thunder and gusts.

Whirlwind Fury: Zephyros summons vast tornadoes that sweep away enemies and debris with violent winds.

Stormpiercer: When it flies, its speed causes lightning to converge, allowing Zephyros to strike enemies with blasts of electrical force.

Sonic Boom Howl: Its howl can stun and disorient enemies within miles, leaving them vulnerable to attacks.

Combat Role: A CR 20+ mythic elemental, Zephyros commands air-based attacks, disorienting wind currents, and sonic force. Its legendary actions include storm summoning, lightning blasts, and aerial strikes.

Worship and Reverence

Zephyros is revered by storm shamans and aerial druids, particularly those in the highlands of Mesa Roja and the Skyreach Peaks. These worshippers often leave sacrifices on mountaintops or perform high-altitude rituals to call upon its power.   Zephyros is not worshipped for blessings—it is called upon to ensure balance within the storm, to bring renewal after destruction.

Current Status

Zephyros's last known appearance occurred at the Wrathwind Citadel, a floating city caught in a deadly vortex summoned by the Abyssal Legion. After dispersing the invasion, Zephyros disappeared into the high, uncharted skies. It is believed to remain ever-watchful, patrolling the upper winds for imbalances.   Category: Mythic Beasts of Caemothas
