Appearance

Abyrion is a quadrupedal, fluid-bodied beast cloaked in ever-flowing water and shimmering bioluminescence. Coral and shell structures cling to its limbs, and a mane of swirling mist flows behind it like a veil. Its gaze reflects the stillness of ocean depths, and its footsteps leave pools of clean, purified water.   When it moves, it flows—silently, swiftly, as though part of the water it commands.

Origins & Mythos

Born of Abyssal Balance

Abyrion is believed to have emerged when Abyssylis, The Aquaric Sentinel, and Sylvora, The Verdant Heart, combined their essence to stabilize the ancient underwater ley currents of Caemothas. Created not to fight—but to guard—Abyrion serves as a living tide between protection and purification.   During the Eclipse Epoch, as demonic corruption spread through rivers and sacred pools, Abyrion manifested in the flooded battlefields to cleanse rot and wash away the blood-soaked land.

The Watcher Beneath Still Waters

Unlike other mythic beasts that herald arrival with destruction, Abyrion appears in times of quiet crisis. Springs that dry unnaturally or waters tainted by infernal rites often see Abyrion materialize—not in rage, but in purpose.   Its howl stirs currents across oceans, calling aquatic creatures to retreat or rally. Its presence alone is enough to banish lesser water-warping magic and drive back necrotic corruption.

Abilities & Traits

Mythic Entity Traits:
  • Tidal Surge: Abyrion summons walls of water that sweep aside enemies and reshape battlefield terrain.
  • Mistform: Can transform into a thick fog or slip through cracks like a sentient tide.
  • Purifying Waters: Removes curses, poisons, and necrotic energy from terrain or creatures it touches.
  • Leystream Howl: Reawakens latent magic within blessed wells or silences corrupted ones.
  • Combat Role: A CR 21+ mythic guardian, Abyrion excels at area control, healing terrain, and anti-undead or abyssal cleansing. Legendary actions include water-form phasing, wave-slam area attacks, and spiritual pressure that drowns magic.

    Worship and Legacy

Abyrion is revered by aquatic druids, riverfolk shamans, and leyspring priests. Offerings of clean water or bioluminescent kelp are left near freshwater springs, deep reefs, or rain-shrouded caves. Its name is invoked during rites of healing and coastal defense rituals.   Some coastal cities craft entire sanctuaries around places Abyrion once walked—believing the water there to hold restorative properties.
"It came not with fury, but with mercy—its howl washed away the rot we thought eternal." — Priestess Velani of Stillwake
