Personal history
Sarah grew up in the Vatican controlled orphanage in Sadapintal with Lyra Whitesmith and Ben Whitesmith. Like Ben, she wasn't singled out for unusual traits, nor was she pushed into harsh supernatural training as Lyra was.
She was overlooked so she found solace in reading. She spent hours sneaking into the orphanage's dusty archives, reading anything she could get her hands on: city records, old case files, even censored tomes about hauntings and vampyres. Books became her escape and a part of her identity. Where Lyra learned to fear the Vatican's grip, Sarah learned to slip through it unseen, stealing knowledge right under Father Littlechild's nose.
She and Lyra bonded in their early years at the orphanage. Together, they helped each other out, shielding each other from the orphanage's cruelities. Sarah wasn't a strong fighter but with her clever mind, she was able to distract, lie , or (on some occasions) manipulate situations in their favor. When Lyra fled the orphanage with Ben, Sarah didn't hesitate to go with them.
Now, as part of Whitesmith Investigations, Sarah serves Lyra's researcher and office manager. She rarely ventures into the field, not because she's afraid but because she wants to make sure that Lyra is prepared. She sometimes worries that she's "just the assistant" but Lyra has reassured her that every book, every legend, every lead Sarah finds is an important step in the process, and in a lot of ways the very foundation of their success.
Education
She recieved the standard education one recieves at a Vatican controlled orphanage, plus the combat lessons that were taught at the Sadapintal orphanage. She is a self-taught scholar with street knowledge who went onto higher learning for accounting and office management.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Sarah’s greatest motivation is to belong and to matter. As a child who was always overlooked, she now clings fiercely to the found family she has with Lyra and Ben. At the same time, her curiosity about the hidden world drives her to dig deeper into mysteries most people ignore. She may not have ghost sight, but she wants to uncover the truths buried in archives, legends, and forgotten stories. Knowledge is her weapon — and her way of proving she’s more than “just another orphan.”
