Lintia
Demographics
Lintia is a mix of ethnicities. Many families can trace their lineages back to Lintia's second or third rebuilding, with oral traditions reflecting loss, perseverance, and renewal.
Government
Lintia is governed by a Maritime Council, headed by the Harbor Chancellor, a position elected every five years. The Council includes representatives from each district, trade guilds, and the Tideguard (local navy). Though loyal to the Commonwealth of Edria, Lintia often acts semi-autonomously in coastal defense and disaster recovery.
Industry & Trade
Export: Salted fish, copper-smithing, woven sails, windflame lanterns
Import: Timber, spices, dyes, foreign grain
Main Industries: Fishing, maritime repair, copper processing, hospitality
Lintia is known for being the first point of contact for many Sepentrian traders arriving from distant isles.
Infrastructure
- Rebuilt seawalls and floodgate systems
- Elevated roads in older areas
- Restored aqueduct and copper piping from the Second Age
- Tide-rotational mills and deep-dock repair stations
- Windflame towers (early magi-tech lighting systems)
Districts
Castle District
On a rise overlooking the sea. Home to the Wavestone Keep and the Lighthouse Archives. Survived all major disasters and acts as a continuity anchor for the city's identity.
Copper Spring
Named for the reddish thermal spring that still runs beneath the cobbled streets. A mix of old tenements and artisans' workshops. Known for music halls and hotwater taverns.
The Port
The lifeblood of Lintia, continuously rebuilt after pirate raids, tsunamis, and fires. Now features modular stone dockworks and an underground shelter network. Also houses market halls, shipwrights, and the naval Tideguard outpost.
Assets
- Deep-harbor access
- Resilient sea wall designs (a model for other coastal cities)
- An archive of coastal disaster response
- Skilled shipwrights and magi-engineers
- Steam-brew copper springs used for healing and recreation
History
First Rebuilding – 613 AE
Destroyed by the Wyrmflood Tsunami, which swallowed half the coast. Survivors rebuilt Lintia on higher ground, integrating new flood defenses.
Second Rebuilding – 807 AE
Pirates from the Burnt Isles razed The Port and Copper Spring during the Blackwake Raids. A wall was constructed and a permanent naval presence established.
Third Rebuilding – 1104 AE
After a volcanic tremor triggered both quake and fire, the city burned nearly to its foundations. Rebuilding was led by the Commonwealth and saw Lintia’s transformation into a fortified, modular city capable of surviving future catastrophes.
Points of interest
Wavestone Keep: The original seat of governance.
Lighthouse Archives: Contains disaster logs, ship manifests, and historical maritime charts.
The Thrice-Forged Fountain: A public square monument with inscriptions from each major rebuilding.
The Singing Moorings: A set of magickally tuned dock pylons that emit harmonic tones in the wind.
Architecture
A patchwork of weathered stone, burnished copper, and reclaimed shipwood. Older areas are tighter and denser, while rebuilt zones feature open courtyards and modular rooftops that double as emergency landing pads or rain catchers.
Geography
Perched on a crescent-shaped bay, flanked by cliffs to the north and a rocky spit to the south. Its central highland anchors the Castle District, while the lower coastline is terraced with docklands and sea-gates.
Climate
Cool-temperate oceanic. Rainy winters, clear windy springs, and short dry summers. Fog rolls in thick from the bay during Crimsonfall and Glacialis, often concealing the harbor entirely.
Natural Resources
- Copper Spring Veins (used in local metalworking and spa culture)
- Sea basalt (used in seawall and harbor construction)
- Thermal waters
- Rich coastal fisheries
