The Failed Council at Port Argen

Concerned Thanes from across Bretawald petition High Thane Grimirsson to convene a Grand Council to address growing tensions between settlements, coordinate Slythernak defense, and restore unified governance. The High Thane agrees to host the council in Port Argen. However, he appears only briefly for ceremonial greetings, then departs on a naval expedition, leaving the Thanes to argue amongst themselves. The council dissolves without resolution, with Port Kolin representatives walking out and Northern Thanes feeling betrayed. This failure convinces many that reunification under Grimirsson is impossible.
