Pangea

The HQ of the NWTC, located at the "halfway point" in the New World, marks the border between their territory and the Pirate Lords. Many hopeful New World Pirates end their journey there. The largest in a series of islands known as the Spine of the New World. Heavily gothic architecture. Home to the highest nobility tied to the Company, as well as Gabranth & Son's. A few satellite islands exist in the general vicinity of Pangea, each one home to the wealthiest businessmen and lavish cosmopolitan towns.   Each island across the Spine of the World can be seen visibly from the island adjacent to it. This allows the NWTC to form an enormous iron curtain that spans for leagues, making passing by undetected all but impossible. These islands are heavily patrolled by Company Galleons, and anyone unable to display proper papers to pass by is sent to see Old Ed without question or hesitation. These ships regularly do battle with Pirate Lord crews, and are among the most hardened and accomplished in all of the New World. Hopeful pirates that hope to venture farther into the New World turn to shady underground organisations to provide fake papers to get by but said organisations take a hefty price.   In the city, nobleman wander the streets totally above any law, openly holding slaves, shooting anyone that displeases them, and taking whatever they wish. Any harm done to them brings an Admiral from the NWTC down on the perpetrator, who annihilates them with extreme prejudice.

History

During the Forgotten Age Pangea was once the Ancestral Home of the elves after their descent from the stars, known as Cyron Bardh. It was the primary home of the elves that chose to abandon their celestial origins and dwell on the earth. Cyron Bardh was looked upon by the rest of the Ancient World as an unofficial capital of sorts. In order to better suit the free spirit of the elves, the entire island was enchanted by Palanquin to drift through the skies, visiting and communing with the many peoples of the New World.   During the conflict that ended the Ancient Kingdom, the Island Drifter aboard Palanquin was used to remove Cyron Bardh's flying enchantment and send it plummeting upside down into the ocean below, with The Board making the wreckage of the once-proud capital their base of operations and erecting the Spine of the World in order to spread their influence as wide as possible.   At one point unbeknownst to the Company above, much of the elven ruins actually remained intact in a large undersea cave, and has since become the merfolk city of Ernath Alus.
