Eleanor Seawind

Vice Admiral Seawind

A half elf. The youngest ever officer to make Vice Admiral at only 18. Eleanor is rigid, hard working, and fully buys the companys bullshit. Lost her family to pirates at a young age. Prodigous swordswoman. Oath of the Open Sea paladin. Stationed at Delport, but longs to see the New World. Encounters the party early on and pursues them across the New World. Due to strong sense of justice, likely to be ally as much as an enemy. Probably realises the error of her ways eventually.

Personal history

Born in a small fishing town in the Old World, Eleanor grew up poor, but fairly happy, spending her time helping her father (the human side) in his inn as a server girl. Even back then, Eleanor had a strong moral compass and often would argue with the less than upstanding customers that would sometimes visit. Such arguments often came at the amusement of the regular clientele, who often brushed it aside as childish naivete, that the world isn't so black and white and she'll find out when she's older etc.   One night at the tavern when Eleanor was around 9 or so, a new group of sailors came in. Out of-towners. They overall acted rudely to both staff and clientele alike, messing the place up, laughing and drinking loudly, and threatening anyone who looked at them funny. A young Eleanor was incensed and told the sailors off, to which she was laughed off. Her father joined in and warned the sailors that they should pipe down or get out. The sailors laughed even more and revealed that they were in fact wanted men. A group of pirates of some notoriety and who demanded respect. Naturally, Eleanor's father threatened to call in the marines of the local NWTC branch, to which the leader of the pirates threatened to take Eleanor away, elves fetching a good price these days and all. Eleanor managed to get away, and ran to the local authorities as fast as she could, but she led them back to the inn too late.   When she and the marines arrived, the inn and been set ablaze out of spite. The marines rushed to rescue those inside and confront the pirates. The pirates lived up to their name however and made short work of the marines. Eleanor had felt dejected. These pirates were so strong that they could just get away with whatever they wanted, and everyone lived and died at their whim. It was cruel. It was unfair. Unjust.   Right at that moment, an NWTC Captain who happened to have been visiting from out of town happened upon the scene and charged the pirates. The pirates, releasing how outclassed they were, fled almost immediately. The captain was able to capture many of the crew, but the captain escaped. In the aftermath, her father lived, but their pride and joy, the inn, was not so lucky.   Such an event lit a spark in Eleanor. She had seen in that captain the safety and justice that the NWTC could bring, but she had also felt the frustration and anger that not all the pirates could face justice for what they had done, and how they would have entirely gotten away with it had that captain not showed up. She knew that she had to take up the mantle and become what she had needed most on that fateful night - someone who could stand up for those too weak to do so themselves.   She set out to join the NWTC at a nearby training academy, but being 9 years old, she was turned away at the door. Undeterred, she was determined to learn how to fight for herself. She would spend years climbing the fence of the compound, watching the swordsmanship and training lessons go by, and mimicking them in her own time. After a year of training in this way, she demonstrated her skill to the commander of the camp, who was so impressed by the young girl's tenacity that he made an exception and allowed her to enroll.   Her time at the academy was not a happy one.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Despite her naturally frail body, Eleanor has dedicated her life to the service of the Company at the expense of all else. She graduated from the military academy at the incredibly young age of 16, having failed the entrance exam no less than 5 times. During her time at the academy, although she consistently came dead last during training exercises, her skill grew immensely until she could best opponents several times her size in any form of physical combat. She graduated with maximum honours, especially impressive given her ill reputation among the recruits, mostly cropping up around her young age and single-minded determination.   After graduating, she was stationed in a small port town in the Old World, where she broke the local record for most pirates captured and tried in a single week within her first month of being there. She bested a feared pirate, Manfred "Redbeard Longshanks" Butch (later known as Redbeard the Landlubber). Butch was known throughout many Old World towns as a truly fearsome pirate who could wrestle a bear effortlessly and had never known defeat in a duel before. She was quickly promoted to manage a large city, before finally achieving the rank of Vice Admiral after only 2 years of service.

Morality & Philosophy

Eleanor is a deep believer in justice and ensuring everyone gets what is fair to them. She had a strong sense of justice, even as a child, which has followed her into adulthood. She believes that if not everyone can stand up for themselves that someone ought to be there to stand up for them. The NWTC does that, in her eyes.   Without them, pirates would be allowed to run free and do as they please, killing and pillaging with no consequences. Even if it's stifling at times, order is preferable to wild chaos. Even so, she insists that everyone convicted of piracy, even those that are caught in the act, shall be given a fair trial and not punished any more than is necessary.
