Pandrae's Urn
Summary
Many eons ago, before the Rebirth of Brandara, Adall trapped Arcen between the Urn and the Lid that He had formed from His own essence. For a great many years, Adall kept Pandrae's Urn- the combination of Lid and Urn- outside of Yonvri, but He soon became tired of Arcen's constant screeching from within Its confines, so Adall placed Pandrae's Urn onto one of His planets within Yonvri, hidden deep in a mountain cave for safekeeping.
Millennia passed and the people of the world grew smarter and found Pandrae's Urn, though at that point they knew little of the universe and only heard the screaming emanating from within It, and so they hid the terrifying object away again and told stories of It. A few thousand more years passed, and Pandrae's Urn had been mostly forgotten except in the legend "Pandora's Box" of the world (from whence came Its name), when a team of the people of the world once again stumbled across the Artifact. This time, however, they did not heed the screaming from within, and chose to open Pandrae's Urn- a momentous and disastrous decision; once the Lid was removed, Arcen came screeching forth, but- still chained to the Urn- He found Himself unable to leave the general (relatively speaking) vicinity of the planet, and so threw His powers into devastating that which He could reach. This was the first Chaos, and led to the first circular era, the Circles of Doom.
After the first opening, the following events occurred involving the Urn and the Lid:- The Light-Watcher shatters the Urn, freeing Arcen from Its anchoring power; as He made His escape, the shards of the Urn and the intact Lid were flung across the reaches of Brandara.
- Monsters gathered the scattered shards of the Urn and mended the Artifact, summoned Arcen, and re-anchored Him, but found, hid, and guarded the Lid so that none could easily trap Arcen within the Urn.
- The Three discovered and recaptured the Lid, then placed It most of the way over the mouth of the Urn.
