Church of the Nine Guardians
the askerian religion believes in nine heroes of old. these heroes sacrificed their lives to seal away the ancient one, a malevolent spirit who saught to destroy the world. with the heroes' great sacrifice, they were able to seal the ancient one away and the spirits of those nine heroes ascended to become powerful spirits of protection known as the guardians. these guardians watched over the nine domains of the world and through them was the birth of the spirits and nature we see today.
the Church of the Nine Guardians teaches of these nine Spirits who became the embodiment of natuture and through them the spirits are born as children of those domains. the church believes that all spirits are sacred and must be respected and not triffled with.
they beleive that any form of magic which utilizes spirits is evil and that magic as a whole is a gift from the guardians to be coveted and is not taken lighly. any born channeler is said to be gifted by the guardians and must be given up to the temple to be taught and molded into acolytes of the guardians.
many of the hymns of the church actually unknowingly hold a few verses of several soulsongs within them. these songs when sung by large groups with enough passion can draw spirits to their choir, building to their beleif that the gods are watching over them.
