Mr. Theodor Holcomb
Theodor Holcomb was a business man. He was a tireless, relentless savage who would not take 'no' for an answer. That is precisely how he got the meek and mild Helen to marry him. She was demure, mild tempered, and from a good family. He felt she would be a good wife. The most annoying thing about her, however, was she fancied herself a bit of an artist. Amazingly enough, her hometown did too. Nonsense. After he moved her away from there, it would all die down.
He moved them away to be closer to his new pet project. In a small but growing town, there was a hospital that he had invested in. The locals were hailing his altruism, for surely, he must be a selfless man to financially back a hospital. Meanwhile, his wife began painting again and selling them throughout town. "How annoying. She must not realize that they're only doing it out of pity. I must put a stop to it."
Soon they were to have their first child. Theodor was immensely proud. He was ready to carry on the family name. He had sent word to all of his friends, (clients, really,) and had prepared the nursery. But, tragedy struck. Helen had a miscarriage. She grieved and grieved. Theodor was grieved, but more disappointed and embarrassed. He grew more distant from his wife. He began to seek out the company of some of the friends he had made in town, Troy , Sybil , and finally Saul .
Sybil told him that he should focus on his business, expand his territory and that would help take his mind off it. Troy told him that The baby would have brought pride to his name. He needed to regain that by establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with in his field. Saul told him something else entirely. Saul said "everything is that woman's fault. You should make her regret taking your son away, and filling your house with her pitiful attempts to replace him. She's only cared about those stupid paintings this whole time."
The more he listened, the more it made sense. The more it made sense, the angrier he became.
