Astynar III

Astynar III is a terrestrial planet in the third orbit around its host star.   It is home to a human civilisation which centers around a massive pyramid complex built upon one of the poles. The constructions look like stonework at first, but scanners clearly show a composition of advanced ceramics layered around a metal frame. The many surfaces are covered in geometric glyphs, alternated by gargoyle-like decorations of myriad exotic creatures.   At the heart of the complex, atop the pole itself, sits a stepped pyramid whose height challenges the clouds. A perpetual ring of storm clouds surrounds its top; Growing and shrinking like some atmospheric ebb and flood, but never fully disappearing.  Similar stepped constructions repeat outwards from this center point, but with no rhyme nor reason to their pattern as understood by Imperial city planners. When viewed from orbit they appear to be built in geometric shapes that mirror the ones carved into the surface of the structure.

People

The psyker gene is relatively common amongst the people of Astynar III, whom refer to themselves as the Mohani ('The Awakened' in their native tongue). Their culture is built around the control and use of these powers. Those that prove themselves strong, and resistant to the depredations of what they call The Beyond, are chosen to lead them. These leaders are called Seers, who gather in a great Choir-Council, and the greatest among them is named Seer-Guide of the Mohani. They focus on powers of warding and divination, to protect and lead their people with foresight.

History

No documented history has survived to the 41st millenium, so what is known of the history of Astynar III is what has been told by the current inhabitants, who seem to record great historic events upon the walls of the inner sanctum of the main pyramid.
