Boots
Boots Anders
Of all my companions, Boots has been with me the longest, mostly because I find him interesting things to hunt. He was finding ogres to hunt before I came into his life, and by staying with me, he became involved in challenging hunts, and received affectionate fur stroking when desired.
Boots was the Mewse companion to Saint Rinale Anders, the founder of the Ordo Venatorum de Magicis Malignis. The tales of Saint Rinale's adventures are filled with tales of Boots bravery and cleverness. It is believed by some of the Order's scholars that the fairytale "Puss in Boots" was based on oral traditions that originated with some of Boots adventures before he met Saint Rinale.
Physical Description
Body Features
Boots was so named because his hind feet and legs were white, making it appear he was wearing white hip high boots. This feature does not show in the only portrait of Boots existent, which has led to attempts to discredit its accuracy.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Before partnering with Saint Rinale Anders, Boots had several adventures on his own. Most of them involved him taking pity on some poor human, and leading them through an adventure the end result of which was the human having a much better life. Boots would then stay with them for a short while, before his craving for adventure led him to wander off in search of another hunt.
The truth is that the "assisting a hapless human" side of his adventures was actually because Boots, being a Mewse, needed a partner to get emotional energy from, and someone to talk to the authorities on his behalf, because most humans in that region and time period regarded a cat shaped creature that could talk as being a servant of the devil or possesed by a demon. In either case, the response was generally to try and banish or kill it, and Boots preferred that the people he was trying to help didn't try and hunt him.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Boots established a precendent of Mewse as companions for the priests and mages of the Ordo Venatorum. This insured that Mewse, and by extension, cats in general, did not become regarded by the order as creatures of evil, even though being fae in origin, they require energy created by humans to survive.
Failures & Embarrassments
While Boots was surely not successful on every hunt he undertook, being a Mewse, he insured that all around him understood that he had meant it to look that way, and that record was not kept of those incidents.
Morality & Philosophy
Humans, while vastly inferior to cats, make good companions. Those who follow MY person are better hunters then most, and will surely need companions to get them out of trouble when they chase things more powerful then they are. They are also likely to be kind to their companions and give good fur strokings. Like all humans, they will need to reminded of the importance of food, and of sleep.
