World Ember Prep Week 1, 2, 3, & 4: Tie it All Together

Week 1 Homework

I've been working on this world, in my head, for ages. Now it's time to create it.   I'm working through the NovelEmber writing and that is spawning several new article-placeholders. During WorldEmber I'm going to focus on fleshing out and publishing those placeholders so that anyone reading through the results of November will have a cohesive background for the world.

Week 2 Homework

This is going to be interesting, as I had fully intended to keep this world private until I had time to flesh it out properly. However, the challenge itself is pushing me so I'm going with it.

Monday Meta

As of Monday afternoon, the meta is fully completed. I'll be back later for more.

Thursday Thoughts

Working through this has been good for me. I definitely have not put the vast majority of possibilities to use. Much of this will be completed over time, but, for now, the homepage is about as good as it's going to get.   I'm currently working to outline the best way to organize the Codex and TOC. That will be adjusted likely into the weekend.

Week 3 Homework

Inspiration for the world of Beron is based on the concept of divinity existing within everyone and everything.   It's not a world of random species; intead, there is only one species that is diverse and has each developed their own beliefs and cultures and societies. The dramatic stories of actual history are entertwined in the drama of the world of Beron.

Week 4 Homework

Thanksgiving has been the holiday that my family prioritized since I was a child. I vividly remember my grandmother saying "Do what you want for Christmas; go to the in-laws. But everyone will be here for Thanksgiving. I try to live my life in a constant state of thanks and it seemed natural that I'd pick up the mantel of hosting each year. Now it has spread from family to friends and upwards of 20 people make it their tradition to spend a joyful and, usually, somewhat decadent afternoon at our house. Preparing for all of that has always made Novelember difficult for me to complete.   However, this year I have informed numerous friends, that I was at least attempting it. I obviously did not complete the overall goal, but I did find that my daily schedule can make room for writing and I did fill in scenes I had no idea what to do with prior to this month. I also filled in gaps in history that needed fleshed out in my world.   Since November is so busy for us, December is our time to stay quiet and bask in what has already been achieved from a hosting perspective. That will allow me ample time to join and complete the WorldEmber challenge and I'm looking forward to it.   I have also committed, to myself and my handful of writing friends, that I'm going to reattempt NovelEmber in January. On the heels of WorldEmber, I imagine I will be fired up and more than ready to get started.
