Heaxton Bay

Demographics

Almost everyone in Heaxton Bay is human, and almost everyone worships Dianism. Heaxton Bay is made mostly of middle and upper class citizens, with very few lower classes in the capital. Some of the common professions in the city include:  
  • Fisherman
  • Engineers
  • Blacksmiths
  • Artisans

Government

The government is run the same way MystDale is- The king reigns supreme, with the council just underneath him.

Defences

Heaxton Bay is surrounded by a twenty-five-foot stone wall, with arrow slits strategically placed every two feet for maximum firing power.  It is also surrounded by a ten-foot-deep moat, with three-foot-long steel spikes at the bottom, sharpened to a T.

Industry & Trade

Heaxton Bay is mostly a tourism city, with approximately seventy percent of its wealth being made from tourists and travelers alone. They do, however, have one of the nation's largest ports, and as such make large amounts of gold from the ship's tolls.

Infrastructure

The Infrastructure of Heaxton Bay is well established; with large shipyards, well paved roads, a clean sewage system, proper blast furnaces, and well engineered bridges.

Districts

There are quite a few districts in Heaxton Bay:   Residential
  • The lower district, Pauperius, where few poor people live, with large stone walls to keep the image of the city clean.
  • The middle district, Solitium, where most commoners live in one or two-story houses in relative safety.
  • The upper district, Opulentia where the wealthy of Heaxton Bay live, in large, elaborate mansions, palaces, and vacation homes.
Commerce
  • The tourism district, Tornacensia, is where tourists, travellers, and immigrants can stay in large resorts overlooking the Glimmering Sea.
  • The merchant's district, Venditio Square, where the streets are filled with market stalls, shops, swindlers, and everything is trying to grab your attention.
  • The fishing district, Pisci Pier, with long docks, fishing boats, dozens of crates full of fish, and the smell of salmon hangs heavily in the air.
  • The metal district, Upper Facere, where blacksmiths, toolsmiths, armorsmiths, and gunsmiths create their weapons and other metal trinkets- where engineers, metal workers, and miners smelt the fresh imports from other nations, or even the few bits of metal from the Gravelly Alps- and where the heat is so intense, it singes the air.
  • The factory district, Lower Facere, where gunpowder is mass-produced and shipped off in large freighters, wood is cut and shaped, leather is tanned and spread, and everywhere you go the sound of saws and hammers follow.
  • The shipping district, Navis, where ships masts tower into the sky, and the sound of seagulls shrieking and crewmen shouting fills the air.
Government/Utility
  • The government district, Potentia Palacades,  where Fort Oscar resides, and the meeting of the council standardly takes place. This district is filled with elaborate marble statues and fountains, showing off the wealth of MystDale.
  • The guard's district, Custodire Square, where guards are trained and boarded in the hundreds.
  • The education district, Discite District, where large, sprawling universities reside, and where children and graduates hurry to classes.
  • The utility district, Ponerio, where the aqueducts and sewers are handled, and where the mechanics and engineers work to preserve the pipes and roads.
Other
  • The temple district, Di District, where there are several temples constructed to serve Di and Dianism, and people flood in to take part in the church and hear the words of Emilio Grande.
  • The gardening district, Horture Quarter, where the smell of flowers and other flora is so overpowering that some people have been reported to gain headaches from it- and the shrubbery goes up and down all the walls.
  • The entertainment district, Rideat Block, where jesters and actors put on shows, and gladiators fight in large coliseums.

Assets

They have dozens of siege towers, battering rams, and trebuchets in the armory, along with three-meter-long cannons that require four people to carry into battle.  Heaxton Bay also has a large observatory, with a large telescope looking to the stars. Fort Oscar resides in Heaxton Bay, with a dual treasury chamber due to the first one overflowing with gold coins.

Guilds and Factions

There are a few guilds and factions in Heaxton Bay, which are listed as follows:  
  • The Templar Guild, a group of dedicated knights dedicated to serving their life in the honor of Di.
  • The Merchants Guild, a collection of merchants and artisans from all over the city, with one common goal-Gold.
  • The Gladiators Guild, a group of gladiators who spar together and train for their next tournament.
  • The Reformers, a group of people looking to change MystDale for the better, but instead get largely ignored.

History

Initially founded by Charles Jackson II, Heaxton Bay has become a beacon of power in MystDale since.

Points of interest

  • PineSteel University, a large college with over three hundred majors.
  • SpringApple pavilion, a large pavilion with seats to sit over thirty thousand people.
  • Charles Jackson II memorial, a fifty-foot statue dedicated to the founder of the country and city.
  • Fort Oscar, one of two castles in the nation, and home to the King.
  • Library of Di, one of the largest libraries in MystDale, containing over three million books.

Tourism

Heaxton Bay's tourism industry is one of the keys to its financial success, and for good reason; The city is the capital of MystDale, and thousands of people flock in and out of the city every day. Most tourists look to spend time in the city and get a taste of the MystDale culture. During the tourist's stay in Heaxton Bay, they normally stay in the tourism district: In villas on the coast, sprawling resorts, cabins, and even in simple boarding homes. Some of the main tourist attractions of the city include the gardening district, the council's building, and Fort Oscar.

Architecture

Most of the buildings in Heaxton Bay are made with pure marble foundations, carefully carved maple architecture, and ocean-blue roofs.

Geography

The city of Heaxton Bay is on the coastline of the Glimmering Sea, where the waves gently strike against the beaches and the harbor.

Climate

The climate of Heaxton Bay is always sunny, with a delicate breeze coming in from the Glittering Sea.

Natural Resources

Some of the natural resources of Heaxton Bay generally include fish, especially the Gemstone Flounder, found exclusively in the Glimmering Sea.
