Physical Description

General Physical Condition

At 6'0" with a fairly muscular physique, Arc can cut quite the imposing figure even while in her civilian guise. Years of paramilitary training have given her a fairly strong foundation of self-discipline and she's far from willing to allow herself to rely solely on her powers, leading her to train most days even when not engaging in hero work.

Special abilities

Arc is a mutant superhuman with a unique pairing of powers. The first allows her to selectively slow and pause the passage of time around her. She cannot move during this time and as such is simply used as a way to afford herself greater thinking time and increase her ability to react to nearby stimuli, effectively seeing the world in slow motion. The second ability is far more taxing, allowing her to rewind a short amount of time (usually less than a minute, but with great effort she can push it further), allowing her to test out different tactical options to see which outcome is most favourable in the current situation. Overuse of this ability however leaves Arc fatigued and even dazed thereafter, leaving her occasionally unable to act on the information she'd gleaned.

Specialized Equipment

Joanna has taken to using a suit of stylised armour and a sword developed by the Schurk Industries weapons development department.    Despite its archaic appearance, the armour is actually made of a reactive nanofiber that is flexible in most situations, allowing her to maneuver freely, but hardens upon impact, protecting her from small arms fire and bladed weapons. It's also embedded with adaptive camouflage capabilities, allowing it to darken or change colour as the situation requires, allowing her to draw or avoid attention at her discretion. Her helmet is further enhanced with night vision and other threat detection technology and can be retrofitted with a rebreather aparatus for under water operations.   Her blade meanwhile is similarly advanced, with stored kinetic energy discharge capabilities based off of the same technology as Rumour's staff, allowing her to redirect energy stored from movement into heating or vibrational modes, allowing Arc to cut through even thick armour.

Personal history

As the only daughter of Joseph Schurk, Joanna would have had no trouble at all rising through the ranks of the Schurk Industries paramilitary division and becoming an agent of considerable sway simply by virtue of her family name, but Joanna has always been very different from her father. Headstrong and determined in a way her father never was and inspired by the heroines of old, Joanna was determined to earn her place and, when her powers manifested, quickly enrolled herself into the company's agent training programme under an assumed name.   With her ability to make perfect on-the-spot decisions in the heat of the moment, Joanna quickly found herself standing ahead of the rank and file agents and inducted into the tactical operations division. Separate from the usual paired agents, Joanna was placed in charge of a trained unit of unpowered humans with whom she conducted several covert and militant operations, the group eventually being dubbed "The Crusaders" because of Joanna's choice of theming, at this point taking up her armoured appearance and mythological codename, as much a way of drawing fire from her human squadmates as a way to homage one of her childhood heroines.   Her combat prowess and tactical thinking made Joanna a valuable target after the company fell and The Century Group were looking for people to fill their ranks, but her involvement in operations that she now saw as horrific had soured her on the concept and she denied them, falling into a deep depression and falling off the radar, finding herself taking up residence in one of the dingier parts of Salanas.   With enough money saved from her family fortune to keep her in relative comfort, Joanna found herself suffering from severe feelings of guilt and hopelessness. Unable to reconcile the good she thought she was doing with the true impact of her actions, it was only upon accidentally uncovering an apocalyptic cult and teaming up with a gaggle of local superhumans to stop an extradimensional incursion that she donned the armour once again and began attempts to redeem the name she'd besmirched so thoroughly.
