The Emperor's College of Magic
Situated on a hill within sight of the Emperor's Château du la Naissance in the Rhennesian capital of Soleimont the Emperor's College of Magic is the most prestigious establishment of wizardly education in the nation. Bearing a charter from the Sun Emperor Renard Valois (himself an alumni) the college has recovered well from the War of Nekoti and the Sundering. It's classes are full, its coffers are full, and its cloistered wizard-proffesors tinker away at their pet projects. Headmaster Vincent Pascal the Marquis of Riellen leads the education and research wings of the college with equal skill but due to the headmaster's advanced years discussion has begun as to who will replace him. The Emperor so far has been uninterested in making a decision which has convinced some wizards that they must accomplish some great feat to convince him. Only time will tell.
Structure
Headmaster Vincent Pascal is in charge of the education and research branches of the college, with a few personal assistants to oversee the mundane details of grounds maintenance and operation. However the Headmaster is also quite often called away to handle a magical emergency or counsel the Emperor and so he is served the Superintendent of the Schools of Magic and the Liaison of the Research Branch.
Superintendent of the Schools of Magic
The Education Branch is divided into eight schools of magical theory: Abjuration, Conjuration, Divination, Enchantment, Evocation, Illusion, Necromancy, and Transmutation. Each school is run by a master of the art who takes the position of Dean of their respective school. The current Deans of each school of magic are the following: Abjuration: Antoine Rousseau Conjuration: Fantine Guetta Divination: Agate Proust Enchantment: Jean Gauguin Evocation: Gerrard Matisse Illusion: Bertrand Sarkozy Necromancy: Louis Sartre Transmutation: Solaina Ginet From the Deans of the schools of magic the Superintendent is chosen to work directly under the headmaster. As this position typically is given to the most important school of magic at any given time based on the needs of the Empire there is no small amount of prestige (and competition) in winning the title. Each Dean is a small team of similarly specialized wizards who alternate as professors. Sometimes these wizards split their time between the education branch and the research branch, other times they work for various imperial agencies in the capital, or are past alumni filling a need.Liaison of the Research Branch
Public Agenda
The College aims to teach those naturally gifted with magic and to integrate them successfully into a society of spellcasters that offers connections and opportunities to its members. Fiercely elitist, the College has a deep pool of prestigious alumni it can connect its students to even including the current Emperor.
