Netherbane, one of the most terrifying and awe inspiring beings in the Underdark, is an ancient dragon who walks in a human guise. Once the Vessel of The Underking Netherbane ruled the entirety of Nineveh’s Underdark before relinquishing his throne out of boredom. Known for his overwhelming aura and unmatched strength, Netherbane would rather spend his days drinking near The Slab than ruling, but when provoked, there are few forces in Nineveh, above or below, that can stand against him.
Physical Description
Identifying Characteristics
In human form: tall, broad, with dark black hair and obsidian eyes. In his true draconic form, a massive, shadow scaled dragon with molten purple veins glowing beneath his scales, radiating heat and crushing presence.
Special abilities
- Elemental Dragon Physiology, Immense durability, strength, and control over volcanic energy and shadows.
- Aura of Dominion, His presence alone can paralyze or terrify those nearby, forcing weaker creatures to bow or flee.
- Unmatched Physical Might, In contests of strength, few beings, mortal or otherwise, can rival him.
Specialized Equipment
Carries a bottomless blacksteel flask enchanted to never empty, said to contain a liquor brewed from distilled lava and fungal spirits found deep beneath The Slab.

Personal history
Hailing from one of the seven surviving dragon eggs after the Rampage of the Behemoths, Netherbane grew up during a time of recovery, when few creatures could threaten the ancient elemental dragons. While the six others made their homes on Nineveh’s surface, Netherbane chose the endless depths below. Eventually becoming the Vessel of the Underking, he reigned over the entire Underdark until he tired of politics and abandoned the throne. He now resides near The Slab, indulging in strong drink and idle days, though his presence alone commands reverence and fear across the Underdark.

Netherbane is male presenting in their human form and prefers to be reffered to as their namesake, Netherbane.
