PCs in the Serpent Isles

The general concept of the campaign is that the PCs are escapees from the transport ship Orchid. The ship belongs to the Shaling Ascendancy, a corporate-aligned autocracy, and is carrying convicts to a prison labour camp on the small island of Houkal. A revolt breaks out and the survivors sail the sinking ship to the nearby island of Rakama. From there, they will build up the settlement and take to the seas.   The PCs can be wrongfully or rightfully convicted for their crimes (as long as they are able to work together with the others as a team) or just simply someone desperate to hire on at a mine site staffed mostly by prison labour.    

Character Creation

  This campaign uses the *Without Number system by Kevin Crawford, mainly drawing from Ashes and Cities.  
Attributes
Assign scores of 14, 12, 11, 10, 9, and 7 to any attribute you wish.  
Backgrounds
Choose any background from either Ashes or Cities Without Number.  
Edges
Choose from any of Ashes Without Number's Universal Survivor Edges or any of Cities Without Number's Operator Edges aside from Wired.  
Foci
Choose any focus from either system aside from Unstable Mutation, Unique Gift, or Zombie Smasher.  
Last Touches
  • Choose a free bonus skill at either Level-0 or bump up a skill to Level-1.
  • Choose a starting language. Levels in Know and Connect each give a bonus language.
  • Pick a name, goal, and ties.  
    Your PC starts with no equipment, Once the ship reaches the island, roll 3 times on the Near Future Survivor table in Ashes. This is what you can salvage from the wreckage.
