Physical Description
Body Features
Jorji has auburn brown hair that reaches her shoulders. It's curly and often tangles. Despite her fawn-colored skin, Jorji doesn't tend to sunburn easily and instead is dotted with freckles. She's tall, almost 6'2", which has its benefits and drawbacks in the desert environment of Raro.
Facial Features
Her eyes are dark blue and very large, which always inspired comparisons to her mother. Just like her mother, Jorji has very sharp features: long sharp nose, angular jaw, and high cheekbones. Jorji also has a large mouth that is usually seen smiling real wide.
Physical quirks
At times, she feels as if she is nothing but physical quirks. Her mind works differently than others, and her body follows suit. Flapping her wrists, making loud sounds with her mouth, hitting herself in the head, and rocking back and forth in any fashion are all necessary for Jorji to interact with her environment when she's overwhelmed.
When she's trying her best to avoid stimming, she'll often look around wildly as if looking for an exit. She is.
She also smiles when she's nervous, happy, excited, or in pain, which can make strangers uncomfortable because they don't know what she's really thinking.
Special abilities
Auras, life energy that surround someone body in shifting colors, are not usually visible to most people, but Jorji have been able to see them since birth. This does not help her. In fact, if she were more honest about this ability, then this could be seen as heretical.
Apparel & Accessories
Because of her sensitivity to textures, Jorji often wears clothes that she's tailored herself. They include a lot of robes and dresses so that her legs are free. She also prefers very thin materials and as few straps as possible. If there's an option to be naked safely, she'll take it.

Personal history
Her mother Elsi swears that Jorji was immaculately concepted. Elsi promised that Jorji's father was a cloud who came to her with the promise that Jorji would be relevant to the shaping of the world... under certain conditions. Elsi has never specified what those conditions were, although she also has never said whether Jorji had met them.
Jorji was born choking. It was a hot day in August and just as the noon sun crested over the horizon, Jorji came into the world red and screaming. Her tears lasted for days, although they never seemed to faze Elsi.
Jorji has lived in her entire life. While her mother ran off to do various things, Jorji stayed behind. When she was young, she lived with a pair of the oldest Yellow Priests , who helped teach her how to do basic things like clean herself and feed herself. They taught her how to beg politely and how to depend on the kindness of strangers.
Education
Elsi and the Yellow Priests raised her with certain knowledge. Among the first things she learned were how to do basic care for herself. Ultimately, she failed a lot of these early lessons and Elsi tried her best to help out, too, in the end. It took her much longer than most, but she successfully learned how to do most of the things young children are expected to do: wash and clean herself, prepare food, sew clothes, tell time with the Raro Street Clocks, and say her prayers.
But... Jorji cannot read despite having consistent instruction. Elsi taught Jorji how to use sign language before she knew how to talk. Even as an adult, that's just not in her skill set.
Employment
Jorji, recently returned from exile, has begun working in the . The is not a good place to work. It comes with social repercussions and the work hours are basically "all of the time."
While young people compete in the , the people who work in the are tasked with preparing the ceremonial baths for before and after the tests. It's a lot of repetitive tasks and hard labor. Jorji does not mind it that much, especially because she knew for a very long time, before she started the tests, that she would probably fail and end up there.
Among the many work hazards are miasma, heavy machinery, and poor lighting conditions. Some common ailments of workers are lung infections, chemical burns, fungal growths, heat exhaustion, and hair loss. So far, because she has just started, Jorji has suffered no consequences.
People who work in the are marked with tattoos across their foreheads and wrists. Jorji still has yet to receive her purple brands.
Failures & Embarrassments
Her mother Elsi is a fantastic magician. Magic is partially a learned skill and Elsi has lived a very long time, collecting as much magic as she can. When Jorji was born, immaculately concepted and all, people believed that Jorji would be a uniquely powerful magician.
Jorji is absolutely not. She's just a failure. Early signs of magic never took and the longer the years stretched after the age of magical onset, it became clearer that Jorji would not live up to the potential of her mother.
When the began when Jorji was twelve, she failed the first two in rapid succession. The first was because she'd been so anxious that she broke into hysterics and collapsed. The second was because she had been so overwhelmed with not repeating her first mistake that she forgot to breathe and then ended up having a screaming meltdown. Because of extenuating circumstances, Jorji was allowed to take several years off before her next tests, and the next one she did not fail, nor the one after, but by the time she was fifteen and on her fifth test, she failed and earned exile.
Elsi went with her. This was an additional embarrassment.
Intellectual Characteristics
Jorji is so dumb and so sweet. Jorji doesn't rely on any of her intellectual instincts other than the one that tells her to follow her intuition and copy others. She has no trust in her ability to judge things reasonably and fairly in a way that makes sense. Her mind has been scrambled all the time and it is easier to quietly accept this than continue.
That isn't to say that she doesn't possess some intellectual skills. She is very good at visualizing shapes and she never gets lost. While she fixates on something, her whole world is that thing. If she is learning how to make soup, she is learning how to make soup, and that drive will eventually get her all the way until she's a person who knows how to make soup.
Morality & Philosophy
Jorji believes that there is strength in kindness and acceptance. The only person to accept Jorji wholeheartedly for all that she is and never batted an eye when Jorji did something unsurprisingly weird. When as a baby, she'd flapped her wrists and made spitty sounds to keep herself from screaming, Elsi located the source of the distress and removed it. Elsi's magnificient power and her acceptance make her truly amazing in Jorji's rose-colored gaze.

Jorji loves a good bath. Cold is good. Hot, even when it's very cold, does not feel good. If there's only a hot bath available to her, she might end up skipping a few too many opportunities to get clean.

Despite the fierce religiosity of the rest of Raro, Elsi always provided Jorji with lots of options. Jorji grew up with the Yellow Priests for a few years, but she never felt any pressure to believe anyone. As such, Jorji's agnostic. She believes in magic and the divine, but she doesn't know what form it takes.
Social Aptitude
Jorji possesses a lot of charisma. She's very polite and sweet. She listens very carefully when she's in a good state to do so. Fairly extroverted, she needs some sensory time to restore her energy, but being around people who love and respect her is amazing.
On the flip side, she has no confidence and will be stepped on. Some of it is self-flagellation, and some of it is just self-esteem issues.

Speech
Jorji works very hard to modulate her voice, and it can sound synthetically emotive. Her pitch tendstends toward low unless she's trying very hard to sound extra feminine where she'll try and bring her voice higher. Elsi has a thick accent, and Jorji has traces of it. Her vowels tend to be a little lower and further back in the mouth and her consonants can sometimes slip into more voiced than intentional.
